It was first reported in 2023 that a “Nurse Jackie” followup was in the works at Showtime from Lionsgate Television, but the project has now moved to Amazon.

The official logline states, “10 years after we left Jackie Peyton (Falco) clinging to life in the series finale, we find her back on her feet in spite of having lost her nursing license. The continuation of her story will find her facing new dilemmas in trying to be good in a world where being bad is often not only easier, but a lot more fun.”

The fact that “Nurse Jackie” is moving to Amazon from Showtime is not altogether surprising given the current state of Showtime’s original programming. Once a powerhouse of scripted shows — including titles like “Nurse Jackie,” “Homeland,” “Weeds,” “Dexter,” and “Shameless” — Showtime now has just a handful of series on the air. This is coupled with the fact that the premium cabler was rebranded as Paramount+ with Showtime in 2023. Paramount leadership had previously indicated they were developing several new shows for the network based off of existing IP, including a “Dexter” prequel and multiple spinoffs of “Billions.”

Omg, a part of me thought we would never see her again... :kry::kry::kry:Because in the season finale..

Spoiler

..she actually dies. But later on Edie Falcoe (or the writers) decided it's too dark of an ending for the show so they decided to make it a little ambigious in portraying it during the scene. However, it was heavily implied and discussed afterwards that she had died at the end of the episode.

That being said I'm very excited to see what comes next.
