AI "art" really turns me off. Something about it seems so sinister, fake and synthetic. Just looking at it grosses me out.

Half of me thinks this is intentionally bad, kinda like a little comment about how ****ed up AI is for art. The other half of me thinks she ran out of money (she is indie after all) and had to resort to AI covers :ororomunroe:

i think due to the song title i'm agreeing with your first half.

i think its time to accept AI is going to become part of creativity as a tool. its a time just like when people thought synths were going to replace acoustic instruments

That's totally different. Synths were a new way of making sounds that broadened the soundscape, basically giving them more to play with creatively. Music is still made with lots of sounds compiled together just as it was before synths. The comparison would be if AI was being used to create music entirely from a prompt. AI generated art completely replaces any creative work from the 'artist'. If it were the same as synths, it would be like AI inventing new colours to use or new types of paint. It doesn't add to the toolbelt of the artist it replaces the artist entirely. Writing and tweaking a prompt isn't creating art

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Given the number of people who don't see the problem with that, it's no wonder that so many people here seem to lack any kind of art/media literacy when you can't see the importance of art being created by a human being.

I think it’s been debunked on twitter, it was not made with AI and the misspellings were intentional

What if my preferred medium is Collage? With AI, I would be able to create any image as source material myself, whereas before, I was bound to what I'd find by chance and then had to worry about trademark issues and such. Wouldn't it be like a painter creating his own paint then?

And there are several aleatoric techniques that removed the artist before too, and nobody batted an eye (in music and visual art). Think Max Ernst or Jackson Pollock. Especially the latter: he often just held the bucket from which paint dripped in random patterns onto a canvas. One could argue that coming up with a prompt - maybe even using the resulting image only as base material for further manipulation - involves much more creativity and brain activity than randomly dripping paint, right?

I'm not necessarily pro AI, and I despise this cover, btw. Just wondering if it can really be dismissed that easily.

There are so many insanely good album creators (ie me jk) so it’s not that hard to take a photo with your iPhone and have it made as an album cover. If this is real, it’s highkey embarrassing af
