I usually prefer cohesive albums with a specific point of view. An album that’s so “all over the place” might also be less critically acclaimed. Thoughts?? Born This Way could be described in the same way. It borrows a lot of elements from a very wide variety of genres, seemingly at random, but still blends them cohesively. My thoughts: I love all over the place… probably bc most people don’t like that and I can be quite all over the place as well (which is one thing I love about myself) and I know I will connect to it. Born This Way draws for so many genres including techno, electronic rock, mariachi, opera, and house. She probably means it’s not tied to one specific sub-genre (like house or disco or rock) and instead borrows from electronic music as whole. That being said, we’ve heard a handful of snippets and it does sound like a mix of synthpop/dance/electronic stuff with a tinge of industrial and body music so we kind of have an idea of the direction.
