Something doesnt look right imo, in terms of how all the actresses I saw looked on stage. They all had quite similar face structures, sharp jaws. Idk. When I see Cynthia I dont see that. Also the music clips we heard so far, not a fan. The clarity of the words they are singing is missing sometimes, which is essential for musicals imo. Also, the Defying Gravity belt in the trailer and she did last week at a talkshow sounds thin, and she tries to cover it by adding waaaaay to much of a riff. But maybe I am picky since Wicked is my favorite musical. But nothing beats Willemijn Verkaik as Elphie for me The Defying Gravity used in the trailers is not the one used in the film. As for Cynthia, I think once you see it, you’ll see why she was the correct choice. She has given one of the best Elphaba performances Wicked has ever been graced with. 1 1

RAMROD 104,091
After seeing this movie yesterday, I understand why the high ratings. Ariana actually manages to make Glinda as a mean girl who is so vapid and shallow on screen, her body language throughout the movie just embodies that, not an easy task. Especially acting alongside heavyweights like Michelle Yeoh & Cynthia Erivo. And yes, the main star is obviously Cynthia. She done it well. Both women will likely get plenty that best actress & supporting actress categories combo on upcoming awards season. The chemistry just works Also some fun surprise in the movie for the stans of the stage play too. Looking forward for Act 2 (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ 𝘞𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 17 (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡ 1

darkgaga 2,763
Just saw clips of Defying Gravity on x. Maybe when I see the whole movie it will click, but I really dont see an Elphie in Cynthia and imo she adds to many unnecessary riffs

I’m just praying that the audience will treat this as a 3 hr sing-a-long. Please don’t ruin everyone else’s experience by not singing over the movie. Nothing new to contribute. ? Maybe when I see the whole movie it will click, but I really dont see an Elphie in Cynthia and imo she adds to many unnecessary riffs Oh man, unnecessary riffs are one of my biggest pet peeves. I love the song Satisfied from Hamilton for example, and EVERY damn Angelica feels the need to become Christina Aguilera at the end. Imo the songs are written a certain way for a reason. To evoke emotion and response from the listener, with deliberate intent from the songwriter. I can understand trying to make a role your own, or to have a fresh take on it, but they almost always fall flat to me. Why you would mess with a standout song from a musical just for the sake of it is beyond me. Especially when it is already successful? It's a lot of risk for what is almost always no payoff, unless the performer fully commits. Anyway sorry for the ranting. The movie looks great and can't wait to see it, riffs or no.
