darkgaga 6,099 Posted November 20, 2024 Share Posted November 20, 2024 Still not a fan of Cynthia as Elphaba. Something doesnt look right imo, in terms of how all the actresses I saw looked on stage. They all had quite similar face structures, sharp jaws. Idk. When I see Cynthia I dont see that. Also the music clips we heard so far, not a fan. The clarity of the words they are singing is missing sometimes, which is essential for musicals imo. Also, the Defying Gravity belt in the trailer and she did last week at a talkshow sounds thin, and she tries to cover it by adding waaaaay to much of a riff. But maybe I am picky since Wicked is my favorite musical. But nothing beats Willemijn Verkaik as Elphie for me Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

jimmytimestep 2,763 Posted November 21, 2024 Share Posted November 21, 2024 I just got back from seeing it and can honestly say this was one of my favorite movies I've ever seen in my life. Is it the BEST movie I've ever seen? No, but similarly to 'The Avengers', 'Barbie', and 'A Star is Born'...this will be many in this generation's favorite movie. If you can't stand musicals, I'm not sure it'll change your mind. But it's tough to ignore how masterful this movie is. Also for those that love 'Wicked' (or just musicals)...if you haven't seen 'Hairspray', 'Tick Tick Boom' or 'In the Heights' I encourage you to check them out.
