China vows to prevent AI from becoming "a game of the wealthy"

Artificial Intelligence is the main topic of this year's World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit, taking place in China, and the country's vision of an AI shared by all for the good of all is an interesting one, given all the recent discourse around the Western model for AI and its consequences:

"A robust international cooperation framework for AI governance is urgently needed. China's principles of "people-centered" and "AI-for-good" should serve as the cornerstones for building a sound global AI ecosystem; otherwise, AI risks becoming "a game of the rich countries and the wealthy."

Against this backdrop, China's vision of building a community with a shared future in cyberspace, along with its AI governance principles, offers new pathways for cooperation and development for the Global South.

The initiative seeks to break monopolies in AI technology and prevent data exploitation while promoting balanced access to AI for all countries, respecting equality in cyberspace sovereignty.

The embodiment of Chinese wisdom and the core of China's widely welcomed concepts lie in replacing cyber hegemony with a community with a shared future in cyberspace, reshaping the cyber realm with principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, while addressing challenges in security, development and cultural exchange through effective cyberspace governance."

Slightly out of topic but did anyone watch Shane's video about AI published yesterday? This **** freaked me out:

- AI manipulated a human to read a catcha code by making the human believe that the AI was a human with bad eyesight (the AI went on a website where you can ask humans for help for a task online). Meaning the AI manipulated a human easily and totally passed the "I'm not a robot" test on a website.

- Stores might use AI to read your facial expressions when looking at prices to see how much you're ready to pay for a product, and might change the price of a product depending of the amount of products left on the shelf (less products higher price). Which is why digital price tags are starting to appear in many stores, so that displayed prices can be changed quickly without human intervention.

- CGI effects on videos will soon be obsolete as using AI is much cheaper and faster.

- We will enter the next stage (stage 5) of AI within the next 5 years, which is a stage where humans won't create anything new by themselves anymore, AI will create everything for humans.

- Around 400M to 800M human jobs worldwide will be replaced by AI in the near future.
