It's actually kind of impressive how he's been an extraordinary president domestically but he truly makes the worst foreign policy decisions

He wants Ukraine to cripple Russia before Trump teams up with Putin I guess. Which is...whatever, I get it, but all this'll do is escalate the conflict. And that's the wrong direction to take a stalemate.

There is no realistic scenario where Ukraine could significantly cripple Russia. I suspect that senior officials in the U.S. government have known for months that this war is a lost cause. But unfortunately, this wouldn't be the first time they've continued down a path despite being aware of inconvenient truths like these.

Peace negotiations should have started months ago, but it seems Biden and his cabinet are unwilling to make a decision reminiscent of Afghanistan, which was an overdue but ultimately necessary move that was executed very very poorly. They also appear unable to accept that Russia has effectively achieved its strategic goals, that it won, which is a reality that heavily undermines their narratives and propaganda.

I also suspect Ukraine will be to Trump what Afghanistan was to Biden. Another terrible blow to the US's strategic causes abroad and a defeat that was decades in the making.

Instead he deliberately waited it out and knowingly cost Ukraine any sort of victory. 

Been saying for all my adult life that Europe should abandon the US and build up its own defensive strength. Because whenever an allie needs the US, it turns up late and charges the earth for the privilege

I don't know that this is the right take. Biden's a complicated figure with a lot of pride and a delicate ego but also a big heart and a lot of empathy for the people he's served for the last 50 years of his life.

He's not evil, he's just incredibly politically weak. It's why Obama backed Clinton in 2016 over him and why he had to send Kamala out to die in his place. It's why Nancy Pelosi is trying to throw him under the bus so hard. She's hoping Democrats' failures will die with his presidency. She wants this election and all Democrats' failures to be his cross to bear alone. It's cutthroat but she's the most politically wise Democrat, I think. Absolute harpy, that one, but gotta give her props.

Anyway, I don't believe for a second that he wants more people to die, that's absurd  he wants Ukraine to ramp up the pressure on Putin 'cause he knows the next president won't back Ukraine or NATO at all which leaves Europe as Putin's playground. Hell, Putin may even have an ally in the next US president.

"Desperate times call for desperate measures".

I don't think this is the right choice though. At this point Putin's basically won a stalemate and the only way the war is ending is if Ukraine concedes part of their territory. Which isn't fair and it isn't right but it could stop the bloodshed for a while.

Seems like a lose-lose situation from all fronts except Putin's and futile struggling when we could be spending time talking about a resolution

I don't dislike Biden at all, I'm actually pretty happy with him from an American standpoint, but goddamn his failures outside of the US are mind-blowing.

There's not a lot of compotence in that room. His threats of sanctions and embargos on Israel did nothing, his threats of pressure on Putin did nothing, and they all seem content with banging their heads against a wall instead of trying something new.

Guess we'll see how Trump handles things. Hopefully he won't break his knees going down on Putin and Netanyahu.

Absolutely this too. They should have been bolstering themselves when Trump won with the message of pulling out of NATO, abandoning trade agreements, and shutting down climate agreements.

They've done none of that and now Trump is returning to power with an even stronger referendum against American involvement in foreign affairs.

Yeah 2016 was a massive wake up call for the EU (the UK **** itself that year lol) and they fell asleep at the wheel. 

Only Macron ever read the cards right on this and the rest of the EU ignored him until the Ukraine war started. And lets be real, given how long it would take European nations to train reservists & build the infrastructure needed to self support their own militaries its now too ****ing late.

This is a shady thing to do. Biden deliberately waited until two weeks after the elections so that this decision would not affect the elections, but he actually wanted to make this decision all along, which shows that Ukraine never had true priority.

If the US leadership delivers long range missiles to Ukraine and authorizes them for long range attacks, then Russia could deliver long range weapons to Iran and Iran could give them to Hamas and Hamas could then argue just like the US that this is legal under international law because Israel claims territories that are not recognized by the UN, just as Russia holds Ukrainian territories that are not recognized by the UN, justifying arms sales and their use. I think Russia will retaliate with an Israël-US-Iran proxy war. The Ukraine war is interconnected with the Hamas-Isrâel war.
