Those albums have great songs but they both have a few songs that simply aren't quite as good (I have no desire to listen to Bartender again because of that t-t-t- thing she does on it) and some of the songs on Boulevard I find a bit bland and forgettable. Blue Bannisters is her worst for me, I just felt like she had all that free time in lockdown so just made 2 albums but really didn't need to put out that one. Lots of good songs but then a lot of mediocre ones too. Dealer has to be my least favourite song from her and I don't know who these family members are who she mentions by name. 15 hours ago, Super said: NFR is literally legendary. She doesn’t try to be anything on this album at all. The best song on it has lyrics like “ice cream ice queen”. I don’t think she was trying to be anything - it doesn’t get more unserious than that. It’s a future classic with a little bit of everything she’s done before. It flows like a greatest hits album. Born To Die remains great but it doesn’t have half of the replay value or depth or eclecticism NFR has . It is good but songs like Bartender take it down a bit. It's just that from that album onwards, she's really been trying to appeal to the Grammys with this "alt indie hipster songwriter" vibe. The kind of stuff made by Fiona Apple, St Vincent and the like. She makes this normally convoluted style palatable but it still has its pretentious moments.
