I know the longest gap sounds a bit like a drag but honestly it shows how long into her career she can achieve another no.1 when so many artists have a hit then just fizzle out the window. Of course having one every two years or so would be better but I’ll take it.

Applause peaked at #4, ROM at #9. Shallow, i think, at 17...it's not pop though. It would have never peaked at #1 on pop. On the other hand, Shallow peaked at #10 on overall radio, despite not being Top 10 on pop

What if I were to tell you many songs that are universally loved never hit number one?

Or never charted to begin with? 

Charts and streams are fun to discuss and joke about but at the end of the day these figures mean very little. To me the only measure worth applauding is when an artist can make repeated impacts over the years, which Gaga has consistently done.
