Will Rock/Metal Back Onto The Mainstream In Coming Years?

As we know, music is much like fashion, they are going in a cycle. We had pop cycle, then hip hop/rap cycle.
Each being the mainstream for long years. Similiar to punk/rock/metal music which enjoyed about 2 decades being on mainstream the last time, (1990s-early 2000s)

Plenty of popular bands we know, and likely love that came out during this time from Nirvana, KoRn, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Greenday,  Blink 182, Good Charlotte, to My Chemical Romance, and Fallout Boy, and to Avenged SevenFold.

The signs probably here already, with one of the biggest band of that era going to do a come back, and with a new member too. I am talking about Linkin Park. Their streaming numbers for new songs are strong. And they are showing signs that they are going back to their earlier sounds, which got them famous.

Or Olivia Rodrigo introducing rock sounds to her young audience. And she currently is one of the highest young selling artist today.

Of course pop nor hip hop/rap is not going anywhere, cos amidst the rock/metal popularity, there are still big pop and hip hop/rap hits and iconic albums during that time. Just saying that rock/metal was reaching the mainstream and does influenced the major labels on their marketing model, there were a few of poppy rockstar started their career at these times too, one of the most famous one most likely is Avril Lavigne.

So what say you? Will punk/rock/metal music will hit mainstream again in near future? Will Linkin Park the one who will help to put the genres back to forefront again? And what's your opinion of it? Are you ready to have rock music on the mainstream radio and having people sorrounding you talking about the genre again?
And if you are later gen Z, and/or gen alpha,  who didn't get to experience much of rock genre peaking in the 90s-00s, what do you think of the potential of the genre going mainstream again?

LG8 will be rock/metal :firega:

idc what y'all say but SSOH confirmed that she is made for music like that, she literally hung out with legends like Mick Jagger and it looked like they always shared the same stage... that live performance is one of the best rock performances of recent times and the legacy of that collab will live on imo

She was flawless, it's the most underappreciated work she ever did, and I'd really love she would make a rock album to showcase what she's really capable off.

If so I hope hard rock songs like Perfect Illusion get a resurgence

Is PI hard rock? I thought it was more glam rock? I'm not too familiar with the subgenres of rock so idk :icant:

OT: Rock and metal, I feel, have always had a pretty consistentlu healthy and loyal fanbase. Unlike pop, they don't seem to rely on trends and popularity, they just make the music they love.

For that reason alone I don't see either rock or metal overtaking pop.

Gaga is absolutely made for rock. I've been begging for RockGa since Joanne gave us AnalogGa :bradley:

Not my favorite genre but if Gaga can pull it off, why not?

I don’t think any genre will ever have a resurgence though. It just doesn’t work like that anymore. Hits are not as global as they used to be, people stream what they want to stream, which basically means that artists will record what they want and if it clicks, good. If not, too bad. But pop music (meaning music that is popular) is getting more and more diverse right now, I feel.
