Alvitr 469
Gosh, saw a clip of the second/ guitar version. I love it so much want to see the whole thing Whispers in the witches wind
PartySick 144,687
I don't care for it? The best part of the song is the production and how wild her vocals are over it. Even the choppy stinger vocals in the background weaved into the weirdness. Really innovative and creative stuff I don't think it works as an acoustic song but she does sound great at least. Awrah999 3,997
The leaked version was low key the better version. Not that I didn’t enjoy the original antidote one but the other one Gaga was more full throat belting and rock-oriented, jumping and feeling the song. I hope she releases it!! Both version are so amazing though. What a treat to be able to stan an artist with the ridiculous talent to craft their art so many ways 1

This site has been so full of hate and negativity for the past months that it’s really refreshing to find someone so rational in here. Harlequin is a treasure and it’s sad that a lot of fans couldn’t perceive it that way. I understand not liking the sound, but as you said, downplaying it is beyond my comprehension. Folie à Deux is one of my favorites, it’s one of those songs that teleports you to another time. I still listen to HM every night before my bed time, it became a ritual. There’s something about her voice that just makes me feel embraced. I loved all her covers, especially Word on a String, Oh, When the Saints, Smile, Close to You and That’s Life. And The Joker! It was amazing how she made it sound like it’s her own song. If I’m being honest, I’m mentioning all the songs because what a ****ing masterpiece she created! I remember that instagram post! If my memory is correct, she was dancing to the sound of Burn the Witch! I just love that she has a rocker soul. I can’t wait for her to let it all out in a rock album! I couldn’t agree more, an hybrid record with multiple and innovative instrumentals would be perfect! Cello is one of my favorite instruments, I’d love to hear a song with it. Maybe another acoustic version with cello + piano, if it’s not too much to ask. And all the references you mentioned, including Cranberries, all I gotta say is that you’ve got an excellent taste in music! I also don’t see her being away from her work for too long. I imagine that, even if she stays away from the spotlight, she’ll continue to create and explore her artistry, as you well pointed, for the joy of discovery and experimentation. Michael said she’s happier when she’s creating and I think this is a part of her that she couldn’t leave behind at the risk of leaving herself. I also trust her artistic vision and her timing, I’m sure she’s going to blow our minds once again! Thank you for this thoughtful and inspiring exchange. It feels like a refreshing antidote to my recent frustrations about how we collectively experience music. It’s still shocking to me how our understanding has been narrowed, fixating on a single metric while ignoring the bigger picture. Harlequin is a masterclass of an album. The band is flawless, the vocals electrifying, and the arrangements and production strike a balance between old-school charm and innovative depth. Gaga’s music often thrives on bursts of energy, her songs acting as adrenaline shots. But here, with Harlequin, she ventures into new territory, focusing on texture and layering, crafting a richly nuanced sonic palette. “Word on a String” stands out as her gentlest delivery yet—a rare, introspective “head music” moment. It’s almost as if she’s leaning into a hazy, dreamlike soundscape. Even though it’s a cover, what matters is how Gaga reinterprets it, infusing it with her vision and setting a tone that could shape her future work. If she carries these influences into LG7, we might be in for an immersive, atmospheric masterpiece alongside her signature glam energy. I’m not trying to draw comparisons or belittle her peers, but Gaga is one of the few contemporary pop stars who truly embodies the ideal of a multifaceted musician. Her vocal prowess, piano skills, and haute-couture creativity place her in a league of her own. I was thrilled to see she produced the acoustic track herself—atta girl! If LG7 sees her taking the reins on production for most of the album, with a pared-down team of collaborators, it could mark a natural evolution for her artistry. I’d love to see her dive deep into production tricks and fully embrace her creative instincts. Kate Bush’s trajectory comes to mind—when she began producing her own music with Never for Ever, her sound soared to new heights, achieving a level of artistic freedom that allowed her vision to shine. Gaga is poised for a similar breakthrough. The synergy between Harlequin and LG7 could give us a laser-focused Gaga. I can even imagine her pulling off an album track listing (not sonically, I am talking about the structure of the album) akin to Hounds of Love or Bowie’s Low which were albums simply divided into two (singles/experiments): front-loaded with industrial pop brilliance (Black Celebration Depeche Mode and XTRMNTR Primal Scream plus what makes pop Gaga special -this would be my dream moodboard) but delving into atmospheric, soft yet gritty, experimental territory on the back end, but pop style. Let her focus, and she would pull a St. Vincent! Of course, she won’t and shouldn’t abandon pop entirely, but by her genre’s standards, she has all the ingredients to push the boundaries further. Here’s hoping she mixes them into something truly magical. Edited November 15 by metalguru 3 2

Do you know when you’re talking to someone and you feel instantly smarter just by hearing them speak? This is how I’m feeling right now Besides all your knowledge, you communicate your thoughts in such a beautiful and inspiring way. Do you have a blog or a channel where you share your musical analysis and insights? I’d love to consume this kind of content! I agree with everything you wrote, especially about Gaga being a multifaceted musician. I think this is her best feature as a musician and it allows her to push further the boundaries of her musicianship. She’s also constantly improving her technique. Her vocal evolution through the years is amazing. In my opinion, Harlequin delivered the best vocals of her career so far. I can imagine the track listing as you mentioned and it makes a lot of sense when we think about Gaga’s recent projects in music and the way she’s been talking about her artistic vision and her singing. I would enjoy especially the soft, gritty and experimental part. Either way my expectations for this album are huge!

MOT 2,640
Just watched that 2 minute clip of the 'Gaga moving around' as opposed to the 'at the piano' version. She's a little shouty on it for my taste. Definite preference for the piano version.
