I always aim to offer a perspective shaped by not just pop music but a variety of genres. I've been listening to Gaga since day one (even before "Just Dance" dropped!), and she truly means a lot to me—she is *my* pop star. I've never seen her as limited to just the pop realm; she’s touched on glam rock, electroclash, '90s European techno, and more. I've been waiting for her to push even further, and I genuinely feel she’s moving in a more eclectic direction this time. I share the same opinion, Gaga can’t be limited to pop music. I always say this but her artistic expression is way too big for her to be labeled as anything. And that’s why it’s so exciting to follow her career, we never know what’s coming next. I feel like we’re experiencing her most eclectic era! 2 hours ago, metalguru said: It’s almost heartbreaking to see how much of today's pop music audience can be so indifferent. Artistic evolution and stylistic exploration often seem irrelevant unless it’s a mainstream hit right away. This way of consuming music feels so regressive. But it seems like Gaga is in control of her own narrative this time, which makes me even more excited for what’s to come. (radiohead, amnesiac specifically speaking!) It is upsetting to see that a lot of fans expect her to be the same instead of wishing her growth. That leads to them not being able to acknowledge all the brilliance in her body of work. I mean just see the reception SSOH had with this fanbase. I cherish every piece of art she has given us and I support her in all of her endeavors, it’s so beautiful and inspiring to see an artist that explores and evolves like Gaga. She’s truly a once in a lifetime artist! Also, Amnesiac was such a great album. Now and then I have Life in a Glasshouse on replay. The trumpet kidnaps me to another dimension lol 5

That album had so much going on, yet people were quick to label it as just jazz. And even if it were "just jazz," why downplay one of the most innovative and influential artistic expressions right from the start? Not liking the album is one thing, but making snap judgments without giving it serious attention seems odd to me. Take "Folie à Deux" as an example—a liberating vocal moment for Gaga! You can really hear her voice flowing like honey in a sea of orchestration. And yes, those trumpets! I bet Gaga’s a huge fan of that track; I even remember her posting about "A Moon Shaped Pool". I'm really looking forward to hearing her take on industrial—a genre I think she'll absolutely thrive in. And I’m hoping to Orpheus for a hybrid record with harps, trumpets, cellos... A perfect mix of her own unique style with hints of Kate Bush, Björk, Nico, Radiohead, Beck, and Bowie influences. The rich textures of Harlequin and even the acoustic version of Disease making me think that she is quite focused on enrichening her productions sonically and I am here for it! If the rumors about her taking a break after LG7 are true, all I can hope for is a low-key, under-the-radar Gaga with brave side projects for a few years until she’s ready for another big comeback. I don’t think she’ll wait that long for her next projects—she’s been LOCKED IN lately! Let’s not forget she’s still that artsy kid from NYC who values innovation above all else. When you reach the top of the world, there’s often a pull to return to the simpler joy of discovery and experimentation. Or this is all just my exaggerated projections onto her -which might be a very arrogant thing to do on my part. Actually, I trust her no matter what. I just feel very motivated about her recent and upcoming releases, and I see a gesture towards new sonic territories. StrawberryBlond 13,996
I do like it, though I prefer the original version better. It just feels like it's meant to be uptempo and grungey. But she performs it beautifully, reminds me of Amy Lee back in the day with the long black hair and piano playing elegantly gothic tracks. I guess this is part of the "LOT of other things" she had planned. It is true that televised performances really don't do anything these days and performing a live rendition from their home studio and officially putting it out may actually be a more effective form of promo for artists in the current day, especially if it's an acoustic take on the song. It's amazing how many likes it's getting, its only been out for 4 hours and only 260k views but already has 64k likes. Don't know if it'll cause a Disease resurgence but is a nice treat for fans. I remember when Doja Cat had her big breakout hit with Say So, she performed so many versions of that including a rock version and cabaret version. We know Gaga has the talent to give the different genre remix treatment to all her songs. We can but dream...

TheFriend 1,813
The way she teased the acoustic version of Disease in the original song (bring me your desire...) G U C C I 5,388
Was really expecting an elevation of the lyrics for a stripped back performance honestly. I love the original form of disease and for me it only really works that way because of the instrumental being so chaotic and her screams plus background voice choices pushing the song into unique territory. In this stripped down version it just sounds out of place and more immature lyrically. I’ve always championed her doing an acoustic album but she really needs to work with great writers for it. Someone who can capture her ideas and metaphors without being wordy like Bloodpop who throws in 24 unnecessary words like in Hold My Hand. 2 2 1

This site has been so full of hate and negativity for the past months that it’s really refreshing to find someone so rational in here. Harlequin is a treasure and it’s sad that a lot of fans couldn’t perceive it that way. I understand not liking the sound, but as you said, downplaying it is beyond my comprehension. Folie à Deux is one of my favorites, it’s one of those songs that teleports you to another time. I still listen to HM every night before my bed time, it became a ritual. There’s something about her voice that just makes me feel embraced. I loved all her covers, especially Word on a String, Oh, When the Saints, Smile, Close to You and That’s Life. And The Joker! It was amazing how she made it sound like it’s her own song. If I’m being honest, I’m mentioning all the songs because what a ****ing masterpiece she created! I remember that instagram post! If my memory is correct, she was dancing to the sound of Burn the Witch! I just love that she has a rocker soul. I can’t wait for her to let it all out in a rock album! I couldn’t agree more, an hybrid record with multiple and innovative instrumentals would be perfect! Cello is one of my favorite instruments, I’d love to hear a song with it. Maybe another acoustic version with cello + piano, if it’s not too much to ask. And all the references you mentioned, including Cranberries, all I gotta say is that you’ve got an excellent taste in music! I also don’t see her being away from her work for too long. I imagine that, even if she stays away from the spotlight, she’ll continue to create and explore her artistry, as you well pointed, for the joy of discovery and experimentation. Michael said she’s happier when she’s creating and I think this is a part of her that she couldn’t leave behind at the risk of leaving herself. I also trust her artistic vision and her timing, I’m sure she’s going to blow our minds once again! 1 2
