I have nothing against this man but that was an incredibly superficial and shallow perspective. Nothing about this era feels authentic or personal. Just because you're singing ballads in the forest doesn't suddenly make you authentic.

You need to actually reveal things that might jeopardise your identity but in fact provoke respect from the audience to be considered authentic. And I don't mean telling the world you feel mixed about your sexuality - that might verge on sensationalism.

Joanne was a departure sonically and thematically radical enough for Gaga to be considered this. Gaga, an artist who used to sing about fame and love and sex, decided to make an album about the death of her aunt, and the generational impact this had had.

Nothing about the Shawn era evokes any aspects of these at all.
