Bradley 56,962 Posted yesterday at 05:30 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:30 PM (edited) https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/gladiator_ii Early reactions from the film's first screening at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles on October 18, 2024 were positive. Critics praised Scott's direction, the set pieces, battle sequences and Mescal's and Washington's performances, mentioning that Scott and Washington could be nominated for the Academy Awards, but a few felt the film lacked an "emotional punch" when compared to the original film. Reality 71,661 Posted yesterday at 05:43 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:43 PM A bigger debut than I would've thought tbh. Two of the critics I usually watch didn't like it that much, so I was expecting a lower number. I think Gaga's next role should be something relatively muted. An original story told about a complex woman that doesn't have roots in a franchise. Make it all about the humanity of her character and nothing else.

Agree, and she needs her own film where she can actually shine, and not something that suffers from the pressure of the big blockbusters regarding the box office. But I also would love to see her starring in a big epic like cleopatra, we all know she'd totally slay a role like that, the countess is still one of my favs gaga characters, and she only gotten better since then. Hopefully she can do both in the future. The melody that you choose can rescue you

Hopefully she can do both in the future. To be fair, Joker must've sounded like a such a great idea in the initial stages. It's a Warner Bros DC movie that centres on acting over action. It promised commercial success and still allowed Gaga to stretch her acting skills and be included in the awards conversation. It promised to extend her reach to audiences who might not have checked out Gucci and ASIB, and changing their opinions on her. If it was successful, she would be remembered for years to come everytime Harley Quinn was mentioned. She would be the successor of Margot Robbie, and figurines would've been made based on her version of Harley Quinn. She gave her all. She was asked to sing and compose, and she did both spectacularly. She was asked to act, and she did it brilliantly too, even cutting down her weight when no one asked her to do so. She even made a companion album to help promote the film. She promoted the movie more than Joaquin did, dressing in character in interviews and at the premiere. Nobody could've predicted Todd to mess up the script so much. Edited yesterday at 06:12 PM by Bradley
