Yes disease performance is heavily underwhelming (mainly because it’s a lead single from one of the worlds biggest/ most talented stars)

But it is what it is and I’ve come to the conclusion that nothing we say is gonna change that.
Gaga is more focused on her acting career now.
Our only option is to just try and continue to enjoy the song (because let’s be honest, it’s one of the best songs she’s released as a lead single) and hope that she puts some effort into the LG7 era next year.

girl disease is catchy as hell

It's a question of perspective

But it seems like it's not because any Gaga song released in 2024 would chart well if it was catchy, the public just don't match to it

Because we're a flop of a fanbase and the GP is slow as **** to realizing that Mother is back.

It will bounce back.

It will bounce back.

The song is great.

A bit loud maybe.

But, hey, what’s wrong with that?

ALSO: I want to hear her experimental, cold, quiet(ish) songs next. AKA Bjork kind of dynamic yet intimate melodies.

She should have just dropped the whole album instead of going with the standard model of rolling out a single and have it get roasted if it doesn't perform well on the charts. She’s above this and every single, moving forward, that gets hyper-scrutinized if it doesn’t go top 10, is tarnishing her reputation. If chart performance is not their main priority, why subject themselves to the rat race? Beyonce cracked the code on this in 2013.

It feels like little monsters are Gaga’s worst critics. To say the obvious, Disease is the result of Gaga’s artistic creation. She put her time, her heart and a lot of work into it. Calling it a flop is disrespectful and rude.

It’s also funny that this fanbase begged for dark and experimental music and now that Gaga gave us exactly what has been asked, people are non stop moaning about numbers and charts, instead of enjoying the musical and visual experience she provided us.

Let’s not pretend we didn’t know from the start that an alternative sound wouldn’t click with the GP the same way a ballad as DWAS would. It doesn’t mean the music is bad, it just doesn’t have the same comercial appeal.

Instead of complaining, we should be grateful that she’s still doing music for us. Celebrating her versatility and brilliance. Charts do not always reflect talent or quality.

Agreed...  I'm trying to remember what it means to be fan of an artist.  When we all first became fans of Lady Gaga, were we all thinking "oh wow, this artist just had a smash hit that went #1 on Billboard and is on her way to be very successful, and so by following this winning woman in the music industry we can brag about stats to other stans online?"   Is that really enjoyable?   Is that the type of thinking that made people fans of hers? Or was it a song, a performance, a role in a movie or a show, or Lady Gaga's larger than life personality that made an impression on us and got us so interested in her as an artist and musician that we come back looking for more?

Does Lady Gaga need to be successful for us to enjoy her work?  Or can we enjoy her work subjectively for what it is, the message it may bring however we may interpret it, or for what we now know about her as a driven artist and woman?

Do we need her to be successful to affirm our own ongoing fascination?

In all seriousness, there's a lack of awareness and exposure. In the meantime, we enjoy it organically, maybe even share it, organically promoting the song.

Who cares ? The song is widely loved and everyone is happy that GAGA is back — can we shift from streaming and charts to focusing on art.

She’s always been the template and don’t be surprised if in 2 years the girls start going more electro again ….

I kinda like it’s not that popular as people thought. It would be so annoying seeing cringe tik tokers dismembering the song. Yes I like Gaga to succeed but Disease is just not that easy to digest for the average listener. I don’t get the panic attacks in here. If you’re not on her payroll, there’s nothing to worry about.
Gaga is best when she goes against mainstream, that’s what made her essential if you look at her career from 2008-12. The difference is she has nothing to prove and hasn’t the bills to pay like 15 years ago. We live in a different world.
Yes they could promote more and yada yada and I’d love a CD but what the hell are we going to do about it? Right - nothing. We can wait and see and dig what comes. Either one does it or not.

Yeah unlike DWAS, as soon as I heard it I knew it wasn't gonna be a commercial smash so I've had zero expectations for it doing well on the charts. I love it though.
