Trump to Putin: Don't escalate war in Ukraine

WASHINGTON, Nov 10 (Reuters) - U.S. President-elect Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday and discussed the war in Ukraine, the Washington Post reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Trump advised Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of "Washington's sizeable military presence in Europe", the Post reported.

During the election campaign, Trump said he would find a solution to end the war "within a day," but did not explain how he would do so.

I don't believe any word coming out of Trump's mouth. If he says he told Putin not to escalate, then he actually told him to escalate.

Also he threatened to leave NATO during his 1st term, meaning he'd leave Europe on its own in case of a Russia attack. So him suddenly telling Putin, don't attack Europe because we have military bases there sounds very hypocrital.

Friendly reminder that Russia would have no interest in interfering in the US elections in favor of Trump if Trump would help Europe.

I think you're right and Trump is a Putin puppet. But it could also be that Putin is playing the long game, and knows that Trump getting elected destabilizes US democracy as well as foreign governments. Putin is using the same divide and conquer playbook Trump used to win.

For sure yeah. Anyone with a brain would know that Trump is going to destroy the USA. And extreme right is rising at an alarming rate in Europe, mostly Italy Netherlands France and Germany. What will happen in the USA starting January 2025 is the future of Europe.
