ever since wednesday morning i’ve felt like i’m living in a nightmare. cannot handle 4 more years of this

To this day, only the countries of Iran, Yemen and Lybia, out of all the countries in the world, are not in the Paris agreement according to Google.

I fear that once the USA leave, other countries will follow. Basic childish reasoning: "Why would I make efforts but not the USA?"

Yall realize they want to accelerate this so that they can take advantage of the chaos that will ensue, right? Americans can barely handle a pandemic and inflation. They’ll be hitlerites in no time if climate change continues to unravel micro crises all over the world. The masses end up deferring to a strong man when they are desperate… whether than be a king, a warlord, or a dictator.

Some mildly hopeful news. I have heard (and hope it's true) that he is already distancing himself from RFK. Of all the alarming things Trump has said, the idea of putting RFK in charge of health was possibly the most alarming thing of all.

I mean we're seeing the devastation of not meeting current climate targets right now. Turning the few controls off on day 1 is massively accelerationist. So the idea that in 4 years we won't be seeing even worse weather issues is sadly unlikely. 

The reality is, the Republicans will have some paid for scientists ready to explain it away like always

That’s exactly the point. The consequences of their policies won’t be immediately apparent, which will give them the ability to blame their opposition for the human suffering they have caused. 
 

We are already living that reality in a way. The increasing wealth disparity and corporate rule are consequences of the conservative agenda, yet they have successfully pinned the blame on democrats or the left in general for the decline of living standards in western countries.

Look, it's a disaster at first glance but only at first glance. The transformation to more renewable energy sources and the push to EV that the IRA has brought not only in the US but to the whole world in just a few years while also dealing with a pandemic and the matter of foreign divisiveness shows how strong of a leader the US is in this fight for a safe climate. So, he is a catastrophe for the climate and its little time frame left to stay healthy and stable. BUT his future climate policies will not only mean step backs, it will also push many more people to get to action on their own because their government is failing them. They'll feel it because we have been feeling it already for so long. Democracy won't be abolished on Day 1. The American constitution is incredibly strong and the way people are called to vote on the government every two years is incredible. This means Trump will most likely hold control of both chambers only for two years, hopefully. Decentralization is also an important take on this one. The people who believe in a healthy planet will rise and it will hopefully mean a new energy on the climate movements all across the world. And it will inspire people to find ways to decarbonize in a decentralized way. And hopefully many companies and personalities from the private sector follow their footsteps. I don't want to sugar coat anything, but I know for a certainty that to every bad thing that's happening, good things show up too! And I see a lot of potential in those good things!

Progress on the climate will happen anyway when it becomes more economically feasible to do so (solar vs fossil fuels, EV's vs petroleum etc)

hes also gonna roll back clean water standards on the EPA and gut it along with the Dept of Education which i think america really needs!! cuz lets face it, Americans are stupid. (im in MI)
