Is there really no promo?

I too don't understand how you can plan this era for years and not start the album with a bang. I know, a lot of established artists just drop a song and video and leave it at that and it can be enough but Disease really is flopping in a really shocking way. It isn't rising anywhere, just dropping. I've never seen a Gaga lead single do so badly, not even during ARTPOP. This should be alarming her team and they should be making her do something. I don't get the idea of "she just put this song out for the fans." It's the lead single from your new album. That song should be for everyone. You can't start the era badly. It can make the public decide not to support it. The upside is, lots of Gaga's second singles are more popular than her lead single (Pokerface, Judas, Million Reasons and Rain On Me were all more successful than their lead singles) so I have faith she can turn it around. But it had better be monumental. She can't afford to mess this up if she's planning to take a break afterwards.

I fluctuate between agreeing with these posts, and being confused. JFAD, her numbers on Spotify, DWAS. This is the perfect time to really show out, but it’s also the holidays, and the election…happened. So who knows. I think we can acknowledge that the roll out is odd and just wait for what’s next. I’m just happy we can actually have threads like this now without people bullying the OP.

Yeah tbh I’m conflicted as well but I think imma just take a break from here and come back when things seem to start to pick up.

I don’t think it’s that easy to stop prepared promotion just because some inconvenience backstage. If the promo was booked it would have been done anyway. They put a lot of money into it. It’s not like Gaga wouldn’t be promoting because Trump won the election or something. Xddd

I just think they have a different strategy. What strategy? I have no idea, but I hope it will be evident soon, cause I also wonder what is going on.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Over time, yes. The music video has more views and likes than BTW and has a lot more streams. It may have been seen as an underperformance at the time but went on to have impact and is the most successful single from the BTW era when you really think about it.

I honestly think the original plans banked on JFAD being a massive blockbuster and when they saw the VFF critics reactions they hit the breaks knowing the film was a bust.

Likely released the "lead" single to keep fans happy because can you imagine the meltdowns on this site if we sat through Harlequin & JFAD bombing and didn't have an October LG7 single to cling to?

I feel like the actual commercial lead single will drop in January ahead of the album coming in February and that will be the proper start to the era - completely severed from JFAD.

This is something a lot of people don’t realize. It’s not easy/really allowed to just cancel promo gigs last minute because your mood changed or the state of the world is different. It lessens your creditability, reputation, people are out of a job etc.

Clearly nothing was planned for the first 3 weeks of release otherwise she would have gone through with it.

My question is why did this album take so long to come out if things are going to be very minimal and uneventful?

This is such a valid question.

I'm not sure what's going on...but I just know they have a lot of good content/promo planned ahead

This doesn’t make sense though. If the lead was released last minute as damage control, she could still promote it. Her disappearing is just causing more distress among fans.

Also, DWAS is still doing well so there is no reason to rush release the lead

I don't think it was released last minute. I just think they decided to release it so fans had something positive & LG7 related to focus on rather than just having JFAD twatting them in the face for months.

Maybe. And it's a big maybe that we'll never answer. The reality is Disease wasn't the original lead single - we've all said its not commercial, so unless its the most commercial on LG7 there's always a possibility they switched it up. But personally, I doubt it.

Honesty though, apart from on the super obsessed stan areas of the Internet, no one cares. They got a new Gaga song to enjoy and are just sat around chilling knowing an album is coming. And the GP are currently defrosting Mariah so don't even care in the slightest.

Which means, only the incel dickheads will care about JFAD come LG7 launch time in 2025. And that's honestly the ideal promo spot after a flop film.
