Just A Holy Fool 2,660
Biden and his people have a lot of blame in this result. There always should have been a Democratic primary.
Othon 34,299
Maybe everyone on this site who's spent the last few years screaming at anyone who accurately predicted all of this to shut up and fall in line can stop repeating blatant self-aggrandizing propaganda that these establishment sycophants are feeding them. Anyone whose brain hasn't been poisoned by MSNBC talking-head conventional wisdom could tell that this was always going to be the end result. The Democrats ran the same god awful right-wing campaign that they've tried three different cycles in a row, this time with the added bonus of facilitating a genocide and campaigning with a bunch of Republican war criminal ghouls who convinced exactly 0 Republicans to switch sides. That will never, ever work. Biden barely eked out a win in 2020 even with a disastrous economy and the act of god that was COVID. Either run a genuine left-winger who can speak to the pain of the working class or continue to keep getting Republicans elected forever.
Eighteen 5,430
the dems need to stop infighting and pointing fingers in my view. it's tiring and annoying and just shows that they are not ready to really look at the party and figure out what really went wrong (yet again). the entire left lost and we lost badly. we need to look in the mirror and look in it hard. bernie sanders was the only one who i saw so far who posted a rational, forward-thinking analysis of the loss. a lot of people clearly put the economy above all else (even above the survival of the democracy itself). and a lot of people clearly don't think the economy is good, despite what many might think. so in my opinion, try starting with listening to that. update: like i was reading a NYT article today, and it was like, "wellll we didn't lose that badly only a few hundred thousand votes in various places." i thought, okay, who cares. we still lost. and now look at what we're getting. accept the loss and figure out how to not lose the next time with good policy. A mini primary comprised of new candidates would’ve been its own disaster. So I don’t agree with you that putting Kamala forward was a mistake. However you’re absolutely right that they made a mistake by running on Biden’s playbook. There was not enough messaging about their policy (and they actually did have some solid plans this time around that I’m assuming Kamala’s team brought forward) and not enough distance placed between her and Biden. There was also too much messaging about Trump being a menace and unfit. American voters don’t care about morality and Democrats made a major miscalculation. Yeah I wish Biden would have backed out earlier in the year so dems could have their own debates. Harris would not have won the nomination. I think someone like Mark Kelly could have beaten Trump. I could see someone like Whitmer, Newsom, or Buttigieg having won a primary and probably beating Trump, tho We have forgotten our public MANNERS

I think it’s more likely that she runs for governor of California in 2026. There’s a rumor going around that she could find a “landing spot” there. This is being pushed by “political sources.” Gag of the decade if she pulls a Nixon. Be a senator -> be vice president -> lose your run for president -> become the governor of California-> run for president again and win
Sorcerer 12,526
Biden dropping out so late really hurt them. But at least Kamala was able to close the gap. She's genuinely likeable and she could've won if she was given more time and her campaign detached more from Biden's admin.
Morphine Prince 109,712
To add to this, although not all races have been finalized as of now: Democrats lost 3 predictable Senate seats, but kept the rest, even in swing states Trump won. The House will remain a razor thin Republican majority. Democrats won in many state legislatures. All of this when a lot of the country shifted to the right. This shows it’s not all doom for the party as a whole. The problem was always the Biden-Harris brand and how voters viewed their economic situation under them. The Dems assumed having her being the new face of the campaign wound be enough for them to win, when they needed new and very clear ideas and plans, especially for the economy. They seriously underestimated how unhappy people have been with the last 4 years. The moment I watched Kamala’s interview on The View and I heard her say that she would’ve changed nothing, that’s when I knew we were f*cked. Had she been able to distance herself from Biden , I think she could’ve won. But also criticizing the administration she just spent 4 years apart of is also not a good idea, so I really don’t know what the Dems were thinking at all. They should’ve held a primary but here we are now She literally just had to say, "I enjoyed what we did, but here is what I could do even better as president". Still, it would've been odd. A primary was definitely needed, and Biden should've never run again. Honestly the main problem is that not enough people are educated on the economy. Democrat economic plans are way better, but the economy doesn't change over night. Even black Tuesday in 1929 was a result of a build up. Biden inherited Trumps trashy economic plans, and had to fix them. Now though, the economy won't look good under Trump for long because of his BS tariffs. he/him/his

Economists kept predicting an imminent recession and it never happened. Unemployment went way down and the stock market boomed. Dumb Americans just didn’t understand or even care that inflation was a worldwide phenomenon post-Covid. Now we just grab our popcorn, sit back, and watch the chaotic sh*t show sequel unfold.
