Jon Favreau, a host of the political podcast “Pod Save America,” said during Friday’s episode that President Biden’s internal polling showed that President-elect Trump would win “400 electoral votes.”

“Then we find out when the Biden campaign becomes the Harris campaign, that the Biden campaign’s own internal polling at the time when they were telling us he was the strongest candidate, showed that Donald Trump was going to win 400 electoral votes,” Favreau said on the podcast in comments highlighted by Mediaite.

This implies Biden was at risk of losing states like Minnesota, New Mexico, New Jersey, New York, and Illinois.

Democrats never abandoned their hate for Biden it seems. He really sent in Kamala as a sacrificial lamb but only after Nancy Pelosi forced him to. His name is about to become a slur in the political sphere.

The democrats biggest mistake was  putting in Kamala, and then having her essentially run as a Biden 2.0. The Dems assumed having her being the new face of the campaign wound be enough for them to win, when they needed new and very clear ideas and plans, especially for the economy. They seriously underestimated how unhappy people have been with the last 4 years. The moment I watched Kamala’s interview on The View and I heard her say that she would’ve changed nothing, that’s when I knew we were f*cked. Had she been able to distance herself from Biden , I think she could’ve won. But also criticizing the administration she just spent 4 years apart of is also not a good idea, so I really don’t know what the Dems were thinking at all. They should’ve held a primary but here we are now :/

Like RBG who refused to retire and now we have a conservative supermajority Supreme Court. He should have never run for reelection and pulling out as late as he did was insane.

it was the best they could do after biden overstayed his welcome. there was literally no other option with just over hundred days to go and I'm absolutely confident kamala was able to fend off trump somehow (you can see how close it still is in battlegrounds). Kamala was a victim of that circumstance, she was appointed as VP candidate before and then the successor. The biggest error was Biden u-turning on not running again, they should've had a longer runway and a different narrative by doing a primary much much earlier.

Kamala salvaged what she could and for what it's worth, it was not unwinnable.  had they hyperfocused on just three or four: michigan, PA, GA, they would've had a chance. but we've had attention and budgets flowing into arizona, nevada, north carolina which she did not need to cement this. it was the campaign's misstep as it was.

then again, hindsight is 20/20. we carry on and avoid older presidents altogether. fresh blood, fresh ideas, more radical candidates for the next cycle.

Realistically, Kamala was the only candidate with a chance this late in the game. A mini primary comprised of new candidates would’ve been its own disaster. So I don’t agree with you that putting Kamala forward was a mistake.

However you’re absolutely right that they made a mistake by running on Biden’s playbook. There was not enough messaging about their policy (and they actually did have some solid plans this time around that I’m assuming Kamala’s team brought forward) and not enough distance placed between her and Biden. There was also too much messaging about Trump being a menace and unfit. American voters don’t care about morality and Democrats made a major miscalculation.

It was pure ego. He thought he was the only one who could beat Trump, so he abandoned his original pitch of being a transitional president once it became apparent Trump was going to run again.

I liked Kamala, but the Dem candidate really needed to be able to distance themselves from the Biden administration in a way that she never realistically could.

I have a feeling we’re gonna have another republican win the election in 2028

at this point while the Democratic Party hopefully does a rebrand we need to do better in future midterm elections

I thought Kamala was running the campaign flawlessly with the circumstances she had but damn, in hindsight there were so many things you can point at that cost her the election.

Do you feel him sir?

Morphine Prince

I posted a thread here back in June I believe where they reported on internal polls showing a bloodbath.

When he dropped out I was very hesitant because I didn’t think anyone could do better given such little time. But as bad as Harris’s loss is, it could have been so much worse.

The left needs left. Not fake left / moderate but let's say we are left for the sake of it, or "advocating for all sides", or trying to win moderate votes more than upsetting people over our belief in policies. Unless Bernie Sanders is nominated, or someone who holds their ground in their political beliefs and let them all be known and stands for them as solidly as they have for their entire tenure, the Democratic party will continue to be fractured.
