Torn on whether to call Trump supporters stupid or if I'm part of the problem

Do it. Taking the high road and letting bullsh*t slide without getting called out in an effort for civility is part of what got us here.

I've been with you all night but I'm gonna break with you on this.

No it doesn't.

66 million Americans of voting age tried, and they tried hard. And what of the millions of people under the age of 18 who had no part of this? They don't deserve the worst. They don't deserve to suffer. It is so easy for us to sit here and say that the whole country deserves this and that, but the truth is that there are a **** ton of good people in this country who do not deserve what is being handed to them, and no amount of people voting Republican could ever make it so that they deserve that.

And it's exactly that kind of "get what you deserve" thinking that makes us lose.

It’s okay to be scared and confused and hurt and defeated. Angry even. I am. So many of us are. But we gotta remember how right now feels and take it forward because this isn't over. 2024 is done, but it doesn't stop here.

We’ve got 2026 midterms where we can change the makeup of congress. We’ve got local mid terms. We’ve got ground to cover engaging with our communities and gearing up for the next battle. We’ve got 2028.

We’ll get through it. It seems impossible but we will because we CAN and they cannot stop us no matter how hard they try. We’ll chip away at this bullshit. And as scary as it is, we’ll keep being us. Keep being loudly female, and loudly gay, and loudly trans, and loudly POC. It’ll be scary and hard, but they only erase us if we stop. I know that’s hard to think about and say right now. It is for me too. But we’ll make it together.

As impossible as it seems, we’ll make it all together because we’re stronger. We’re more clever. We’re more devoted. We’re more creative. We have walked harsh roads and learned to survive. And we will survive this too because we have each other and they cannot take that from us.

And we'll succeed because that is what we deserve. In the long run, good people who want good things will succeed. There are clearly set backs along the way, but now is not the time for us to shrug our shoulders and say let it burn. Giving up is just the same as holding the door open for them to walk through.

The good people of this country deserve better than what they get, and you cannot change my mind on that. But they're not getting it right now. So this is where the fight begins. No more leftist vs. lib infighting, no more trying to cut off demographics that we view as unfavorable. We gotta put the time and the effort in to win back those we've allowed to get taken from us. We gotta have the hard conversations, and sit through the awkward moments, and walk through the flames.

But we absolutely, unambigiously should not just give up. That would make us no better than them.

You really think Trump wont change the constitution? Or that he or Putin wont start a nuclear war? 2028 elections are most likely not even gonna happen, for one of those 2 reasons

reached out to a few trans friends there in the US. i can't imagine the danger they're ever closer to within your country and how that sends shockwaves down to how other countries and cultures will make progress with trans rights. i guess that's how the us has always been, it's just been revealed and naked... emboldened and more aggressive.

If symptom persists, consult your doctor.

How likely is it that he will actually pursue project 25 ? I know he's denied he will but if his lips are moving he's usually lying.

I am genuinely shocked. I actually do not know what to do.
I am so sorry to all of you over there who are women/girls/afab, queer, poc, or all of the above. The potential effect this is going to have on you guys is insane. And sadly, we will take great influence from it over here. I’m not religious, but I honestly haven’t stopped praying to whoever listens, if there’s anyone there. We’re heartbroken for you, scared for you, and also worried about the effects on us.
I am so sorry and our hearts are with you all.

I just woke up. I’m hungover. I’m pissed and sad. I voted. My friends voted. My family voted. I know very few trump supporters. I can’t believe this nightmare is a reality.

Very likely; it just probably won't be called project 2025. His official campaign plans they posted on his website are just cherry-picked proposals from it.

I know it’s usually his line, but surely this was rigged?
Unless people just lied about who they were voting for?

B*tch, he got the boot today. :icant:

I mean he'd last run during a presidential year in 2012. Ohio has shifted massively since then. His numbers this year in Ohio were better than Harris by 3%. His actual vote is higher than it was in the 2018 blue wave & higher than it was in his first election win in 2006. Only his 2012 tally was higher.

He weathered a storm in Ohio against the odds at a time when the state was transforming from a historic bellwether into a semi-safe Red state. His approval ratings stayed consistent. He was a pro-labour Democrat, a union Democrat. He is exactly what the Democrats aren't seen as nationally.

And there's no way for the Dems to make a comeback from another 2016 style defeat without embracing the midwest representation of the party who still speak to a working class america that the coastal Democrats don't resonate with.

As much as I’d like to have optimism and see this as a wake up call for Democrats and America overall, I’m afraid this mentality has been prolonged for too long it might not go anywhere soon, the Trump era will go on for 4 more years making it 12 years total. Who knows what the party will do to keep this going even with a different candidate, can’t believe we’ll potentially be entering the 2030s still fighting against this agenda :smh:

Nothing's over until it's over, and I think laying down and accepting that as the only outcome right now is the only way to guarantee that it happens. If that's how it ends up going down, then it's going to have to go down as a fight, not with us holding the door open for them.

This. Besides, people need to go look up the process to change the constitution. Its ****ing clunky as ****, even popular amendments take years to process.

I’m not familiar with how US elections work, is there any way it could still change and Kamala wins?:saladga:
