I'm so disappointed and disgusted with my country. Genuinely, where should I move?

Problem is, its not looking bright anywhere right now. Right wing politics are pretty established everywhere you look.

The way it usually works is that the economy under the current president is a result from the previous president’s work. (Ie obama’s work caused a great economy under Trump). People don’t realize that and Trump took full credit.

Trump inherited a good economy from Obama.

Biden got left a bit of a shitter then we had the global inflation issues from Covid/Ukraine etc

So while the headline figs are good for Biden. The reality for working people is prices went up & wages didnt keep pace

I see, thanks for explaining 🙏

Excuse my ignorance (I’m not from the US), was the economy really better under drumpf’s previous presidency than it has been during Biden?

Well, Obama handed it over to Trump on autopilot to put is simply. It was in recovery from the recession. Trump’s tampering isn’t really being seen until now. (The tax cuts he did for example). Then covid happened. Its impact on the economy is a major reason why he didn’t win reelection.
So, yes. The Obama economy that people remember fondly is being attributed to Trump. They have just decided to forget that he ****ed it up at the end.

I reactivated all my socials this year after a LONG hiatus. Now everyone I followed who has been silent about this election has now been posting happiness about this orange twat’s victory. So disappointed in a lot of people I thought were smarter than that.

I am think about just deleting all my socials again and just being away from the internet for a while. So disappointed right now.

Btw I think it’s funny that Obama will be canonized among modern Democrats in the same way Reagan was by Republicans. Can the party ever produce another charismatic politician that can win decisively? Who knows girly pop.

Late night thoughts.

1. Biden loomed large in this election. He was a cancer for the campaign. His abysmal approval rating, his physical and mental decline, and the fact that the economy (as the every day man sees it) is in complete disarray are the main thing that drove us to this result.

2. Kamala ran an impeccable ground game but her loss highlights the importance of charisma. I’ll be fair to her. The extreme circumstances of her campaign left her muzzled. She had to be careful with just about everything she said because it couldn’t veer too far away from Biden. I think she can be charismatic enough to win the office, but she struggled to connect with Americans.

3. The Dem party is at a crossroads. It needs to go back to policy, it needs to strip away platitudes and identity politics and sensationalism and just focus on solid policy making. Can it do that?

This post to a tea.

Her character was not clear, there was a lacking confidence and conviction imo. Guessing most undecided voters did not want to take a risk on her. Many were confused on what her policy standpoints even were. It was just the homeowners and small businesses buzz words said over and over again. When asked what she’d do differently she legit lagged and said the worst possible thing.

and your last point is so important. It’s no longer cool to be left leaning or a democrat and that’s because identity politics took center stage. We got too woke and lost focus on life quality first and foremost. In most people’s heads Trump will make life cheaper and that’s all people needed to know or care about to vote for him over Kamala.
