dracomalfoy 643
Maybe Gaga and her team really don’t care about charts anymore? The strategy of releasing the song with no physicals backing it up is really weird. But if they don’t care, why should we? I don’t really mind the #28 placement, I like it when Gaga does good but it’s no tragedy when she doesn’t. And it’s not like #28 is bad either, Katy Perry’s latest singles barely even charted on the Hot 100 Chromatic, Chromatic, put your hands all over my colors. Ladle Ghoulash 16,153
Kinda cracks me up that half of y’all think Disease is too generic and the other half think it’s too experimental Edited November 5 by Ladle Ghoulash

Plotting a whole record around Bloody Mary being a meme was not the best decision. Oh yeah, just make album full of songs like DWAS for it to be a chart success, so her personally insecure fans can get something to brag about. Sugar, spice, and everything nice. 2 1

Kaevin95 61
47 minutes ago, Caldy said: I think it's safe to say that Disease is not performing as well as we would have hoped for a lead single, and that's ok. I personally didn't enjoy the song and it is definitely not radio friendly nor is it in the realm of songs that the GP have come to love from Gaga. However, I do know many people that love it for how different it sounds compared to the rest of the current pop landscape. I also think that part of Disease's thunder is being stolen by DWAS, which is creating an unexpected problem for Gaga's team because they must now choose to promote one of the songs over the other. I suspect that it was expected that the hype for DWAS would have died out by this time and that Disease would be a hit as it was released at the same time as Halloween. However, DWAS has only grown in popularity and there is probably pressure from both Bruno and Gaga's record labels to promote it further now that it has the potential to reach #1. Gaga has never been in a position before in her career where a new lead was being overshadowed by a duet released weeks prior, not even during ASIB era. I also feel that the bad press of FAD may have negatively impacted her image, further contributing to the underperformance of this single. I think her team royally scr*wed up this release and it's kind of disappointing to see, especially after everything Gaga has been through. I really think her management should know better at this point, especially after being in the business for over 16 years now. I personally found it interesting that they would release new versions of DWAS and a live performance a few days after a completely new song. That being said, I am glad that she is in a place where she is happy again. I also think we need to stop saying "oh but she doesn't care about the charts, she is releasing what makes her happy". That is total BS, everybody cares about charts and this is no different. I am already bored of the song as well. It's not even close to other singles she has released in the past and being dark/atypical pop doesn't mean it can't chart. Simply, Disease is not Bloody Mary and Bad Romance for me (and apparently for the GP as well). I love the sound tho so i expect a banger album but i really hope the hooks and the choruses are better than disease ones

onionring 42
what are you guys even talking about her management strategy is really good this time around building the international hype at the olympics - July drop earworm duet with GP's sweetheart - Aug fan service solo jazz album accompanying the most talked about movie of the year for better or worse (retrospectively for the worse) - late Sep leaving room to showcase and present gaga through her other artistic endeavors joker : FAD - Oct lead single drop of her much anticipated return to "dark pop" a week befoe halloween with the mv on halloween eve along with the DWAS live in vegas for fans to have experimental gaga and for the gp to have their lady (the point yall making about stealing thunder is weird charli, chappell and saprina all had multiple songs go viral from the same rollout each charli and chappell specifically) i think it's brilliant i would say their only misstep was like the rest of the world they didn't expect this much of a bad reception to fad or else they could've pushed disease earlier to get it to build up through the spooky season but i predict rn they will wait for the election anxiety to simmer down then push with the promo lit build up for the first 2 weeks of Nov (tbh i could see it grow on the clock app when tump is defeated hopefully or if in the dreaded timeline that he wins in i kinda also see it be associated with his what would be term) then i think they're hoping for a harlequin song to go semi viral around the holidays (kinda think it was the plan or along and it's not accidental as we have yet to know anything about the harlquin live special) long story short the rollout this year was about reminding the public that she's a multifaceted artist entering a new era of her legacy free from anyone's viewpoint of what kind of an artist she is or could do and i think that's really smart of them and her she sounds like loves what she's doing again yall should trust the process more imho 3 3

Galagala 4,561
A bit embarrassing tbh. This is worse than those predictions. If the whole album sounds like Disease (heavy like Perfect Illsuion), it is def losing touch with GP and I don't know if it's a good move to limit your "target market" if the fans and maybe herself still care so much about success and re-peaking career. Yeah y'all attack Katy Perry for like a year so don't tell people "just enjoy the music." She's a mainstream pop star for me so I don't compare her with those independent/alternative singers anyway. The difference is that Katy’s new album sucked. Could’ve gone number one internationally and I still would’ve thought it was dogshit Edited November 5 by Ladle Ghoulash 1 1
