What he can't do, is to call an entire group of diverse people "racist" for the sole purpose of deflecting from his past behaviour, and expect to be extempt from criticism. He is probably right about many of them. I'm sure a lot of people in Taylor's fanbase are racist, and I'm sure some of them maybe have said racist things about him online. But the way in which he phrased it, seemed like deflection. Taylor is huge in Latin America, with tons of non-white fans. Not every single swifty who's coming for him online is racially motivated, and he knows this . On his defense: I don't think he should be "cancelled" over distasteful lyrics. Art isn't meant to always be pleasant, he wrote that, it is what it is. But if you chose to be a provocateur, at least stand your ground, lol.
