LG2008 2,850
How accurate are those predictions? It seems ridiculous... How many points does that Bar song get from radio? It's non existent on streaming and idk if it has physical sales Edited 4 hours ago by LG2008

We (in general) demand many things but do almost nothing to support her. Somehow it doesn't make sense....but at least we're getting good music and visuals. The thing is, charts now take so many things into consideration, a song with higher sales can, and will, chart lower than a song that has high radio airplay, or a young enough audience to spam streams. Now it is possible to have a #1 song that has lower sales than the #2, so... it's the current state of the industry. GaGa does not have radio support, so Disease is charting exclusively because of the support from Pop Music fans and nothing else. It has not reached non-fans, yet. It is a fun song, and I can see it resonating with other demographics, but it'll take for some kind of unconventional exposure for that to happen. Either the song being used on a popular show, a commercial, a viral edit, or something. For now, we should be happy with a TOP20 placement. It isn't the kind of song that charts at all in the first place. For context, this track was compared to Nine Inch Nails, which is the most commercially successful Industrial band. Their highest charting song, of all time, is "Hand That Feeds", which Disease shares common elements with; it peaked at #36 in the HOT100 For this kind of music, this is low-key as high as it gets. I guess it depends on if the prediction under estimated the physicals.
Reality 71,274
Honestly, I don't think this is bad. The promo for the song has been minimal outside of the music video and there's been no physicals. It's also an unconventional industrial/electronic/dark pop song. I've said this in other threads, but @OliviaRodrigoStan also said it beautifully here. We cannot expect Disease, or LG7 in general, to be a global smash hit if we also have this dark/gothic/industrial/electronic/dance pop style that many of us wanted for so long. Bloody Mary only just became popular these past couple of years. Likewise, Government Hooker and Scheibe are fan favorites but are not popular with the GP. I truly feel like LG7 is a return to form for Gaga in the sense that she's really trying to make this album for hardcore fans. I don't think she's all too concerned with how it charts more so than with the critical reception and making sure that she delivers what many of us want. Look at Abracadabra and Notorious Being. Those don't seem radio-friendly either, but they already seem like fan faves based on how they sound. smitherz 2,005
I cannot believe DWAS is gonna miss that #1 this week. All the variants, the live performance… they completely blew their load 😫
smitherz 2,005
wait saw that these were the midweek numbers even though they posted today. Is it possible these numbers were calculated before the last few days and all the variants? 🧐

At the end of the day music quality should matter more than the charts. But I see all the fans praising the song and people hyping it up sooo much on Twitter. It's definitely viral on Twitter right now and everyone's eating the song and the music video up. But it's kind of bittersweet because this is her "big" comeback, she has the 3rd highest monthly listeners on Spotify, and the general reception from both fans and the general public seems to be much better than it was for Perfect Illusion or Stupid Love, yet, somehow it's only gonna peak at #18 when PI did #15 and SL went #5? Somehow it doesn't make sense....but at least we're getting good music and visuals. I know that just looking at the debut week chart numbers Perfect Illusion looks like it performed better than Disease, but looking at only chart numbers doesn't tell the full story. After two or three days Perfect Illusion had a complete free-fall, and even after promoting the single to numerous radio stations, it was pretty much pulled a week after its release. A the time, and in hindsight, it seems kind of obvious that Interscope didn't have much faith in Perfect Illusion as a single after free-falling, not to mention that it got a lukewarm reception and people didn't really care about it. Compare that to Disease, which many fans and critics claim to be a return to form and old-school Gaga in a good way. Despite not receiving the same level of promotion as Perfect Illusion, it'll debut with a very similar number. Not to mention that in contrast to Perfect Illusion, Disease is not free-falling as much on streaming (the last few days appear relatively stable). Plus, Disease just got the number one position on TTH on Spotify and is receiving pretty good playlisting support a week after release. And it is still gaining traction on pop radio, something which could not be said for Perfect Illusion. Annnnd I haven't even mentioned the Tyler album bomb this week, either. All the signs are pointing to Gaga and Interscope having faith in Disease. I'm certain it'll do better than Perfect Illusion in the long run, and maybe even Stupid Love.
