Economy 47,027
I love how shes always so honest and straight. And she doesnt try to sugar coat stuff to look better. Here she talks about how Autotune in Believe happened because she couldn't sing the chorus well enough Here she says she prefers acting than sining because she feels shes very talented in acting and has no boundries but she feels shes not a great singer so she often cant hit notes she wants to @ 5:26 time point I just love how she self analysis herself so honestly and openly both the strengths and the weaknesses Edited October 31 by Economy Typo 1

hELXIG 41,587
We love a humble queen. Honestly a bit of humbleness goes a long way. She has a really great voice though I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Shes no Whitney Huston, Lady Gaga or Adele tho and shes aware of that But that doesnt make her untalented nevethless as she has so many other strengths and atributes that made her the legendary icon that she is Idc what ppl say. To me I admire her more than Madonna. Madonna managed to be a great business woman above all but as a performer, singer, actress etc she was always average at best to me with her bigger strength being more just in being creative (which to be fair at least made her interesting and the music wasnt bad either) But does she deserve to be the #1 most successful female artist of all time? Imo no Mediocraty seems to always win tho somehow. TS is surpassing all of Madonnas records one by one and at least Madonna was interesting and artistic despite mediocraty in other aspects. Taylor Swift is only super talented in inflating numbers with never ending variants Edited October 31 by Economy 2

I guess it doesn't matter, there are multiple ways to be a performer. I guess a lot of us in this fanbase prefer art over commercial success (well.. most). The only thing I don't like is when one artists blocks other artists just to stay on top instead of supporting others.. Someone needs to cure the disease I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. 1

Some of us (including myself) thought in early years Gaga was gonna be the biggest female artist of this generation (commercially) like Madonna was for her generatiom and that her embodying similarities such as pushing boundries and being provocative was the common denominator that would cause that parallel In the end Taylor Swift won as the biggest female artist of this generation and the relevant common denomonator ended up being being a good business woman with good marketability not the provocativeness, art or pushing boundries. I guess since music is an industry after all we shouldnt be surprised. But imo Taylor is even more mediocre than Madonna. At least Madonna despite singing kinda bad at times and not being able to act when she tried... at least she was artistic and interesting on the performances and visuals which still made her an icon. Overrated maybe but still a deserving icon. I feel Taylor on the otherhand is average on everything. Shes not spectacular or the best in the industry in anything But its fine if Gaga isnt the biggest commercially. She has the icon and cultural impact and critical acclaim anyway. She still will be remembered for that. I see Gaga into her 50s, 60s even 70s having random little comebacks like Cher did (Cher is the only woman in history to have a #1 on hot 100 past age 50). Im not as convinced Taylor past 50 will have any comebacks when her generic appeal completely dies so I suspect Gaga will still have more longevity. And now that you mention it, it's actually very interesting to picture these artists in their old age. I couldn't see Taylor at 80 getting up and singing her hits.. Shake It Off and Blank Space. That's almost.. sadly comical. But Gaga on the other hand.. the way she currently performs her hits, even the sexy pop songs, at her jazz show is exactly how she could get away with still performing her back catalogue of pop hits at 80 and have it be meaningful and impressive. And to top it off she has songs like Shallow, Always Remember Us This Way, Hold My Hand, Die With A Smile which could easily transcend generations and stand the test of time. It reminds me of seeing Joni Mitchel perform at the Grammy's. It brings a tear to the eye to watch an elderly woman sing her decades-old music in such a beautiful setting That all being said, I don't wanna just hate on Taylor and other artists. That kind of generic pop music really does have it's place. I just don't know about longevity. There are many, many different ways to be a performer and an artist and they're all valid in their own ways. But I'm just really glad that one of the artists I love the most has so much talent and integrity, and that we hopefully will get to age together and she'll still be around as a classy elderly woman I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. Artists like Taylor or Sabrina Carpenter are good to have in the mix too. It gives you the option to sometimes listen to fun easy to digest music. Music and art doesnt have to be super deep or artistic all the time! I just find it irritating tho when they become the BIGGEST stars especially for prolonged periods of time cuz then they feel overrated. Generic is totally fine but it feels weird to me when they are worshiped to that extent as if they are so ground breaking Tho to be fair, generic average artists usually do come and go. Taylor is kind of an exeption to this to have been so big so long and in part I think its cuz shes just that good at working the business! But yeah... I think in 10 to 15 years Gaga will still have a degree of relevance. She may not be getting a bunch of top 10s anymore (if any) but shell still likely sell out shows, be talked about in media and be seen as an icon Taylor on the otherhand I see becoming more like Katy Perry. She will be remembered (cuz when ur big that long ur name never totally dies) and ppl will be nostalgic about her old hits when they were younger but with the exeption of her most dedicated fans, most probably wont care about anything new she puts out
