You woke up and choose violence One is a poor attempt at being funny, the other is well crafted piece of art with many layers and lots of details to unpack, for a fan it's like a love letter, nothing "cringy" about it. Not to mention the insane visuals she delivered, might not be your cup of tea but you can't deny it doesn't show "artistic growth"... Or maybe you can but i wouldn't agree with you. I’m not saying it’s a bad attempt, I just feel like the sound and visuals she was going for are very much on ”trend” or even little outdated. It’s cool that she listened to fans who wanted her to give them something with BTW aesthetic and sounds, but at this point in her career it feels like a repetition. Regardless, I have high expectations for the album, since she has proven us that her leads tend to be tad different from the rest if the album (SL, Perfect Illusion, Applause). I really have to disagree, I don't think she's even done anything remotely close to this. This is not the sexy darkga from the BTW aesthetic imo, this is much more unapologetic, and I really feel like it's an evolution, I mean, even the video tells that story. Doesn't even feel forced to me because "that's what the fans want", feels like a natural evolution, especially after watching the video and piecing together all the little details. I can respect your opinion but can't really agree with it and couldn't be more hyped now because i absolutely loved the mv visuals and direction, maybe her best looks ever for me (recency bias much? ) and her best acting yet on a mv imo.
