metalguru 985
To those willing to drop the cynicism— I remember vividly the first time I heard Gaga. I was a music critic then, covering mostly indie rock, alt-rock, and electro-pop. Dance music was still under the radar; the general public wasn’t as receptive, and music publications were deeply invested in rock and indie as the “serious” genres. Pop, by contrast, was largely ignored. One day, a promo single landed in my inbox, supposedly sung by a New Yorker with Bowie’s lightning bolt across her face. As a lifelong Bowie fan, intrigued by this nod to glam rock, I listened. Her name was Lady Gaga, and her debut was an electro-glam gem. I loved it instantly. Even before Just Dance, I became a fan of her creativity, thrilled by this bold new voice pushing pop into fresh, artful spaces. Gaga, it seemed, came too early. Today, mainstream pop is widely acclaimed, yet during her peak, critics held back, and when she later faltered creatively, the backlash hit hard. It’s only now that I’m witnessing critics universally embrace a Gaga single—BBC, CoS, The Guardian, The Independent—even casual sites like Album of the Year and Rate Your Music are singing her praises. For the first time, her song “Disease” is scoring highly, showing a broad, genuine appreciation that’s long overdue. Unfortunately, this pivotal moment is being overshadowed by complaints that she didn’t “promote” the single within 48 hours. Instead of dwelling on such superficialities, let’s focus on the importance of shifting the narrative. Let’s celebrate Gaga’s critical moment without commercial pressure. Leave a positive review on Album of the Year, Rate Your Music, or wherever you follow music. Enjoy this rare, supportive atmosphere. Don’t taint this meaningful moment. If “Disease” resonates and becomes a hit, great. If not, it will stand as a milestone in her journey, paving the way for LG7—a chance for her to create something daring and deeply authentic. Go enjoy Disease. It's a triumph, both a return to form and a leap toward new horizons. Fresh as ever, yet a perfect nod to her past hits, almost a greatest-hits experience for new fans and naysayers alike. Her vocals are unmistakably her, weaving in and out like their own beat, constantly evolving with every note. I’m amazed. I could see this song carrying Gaga into a new decade of grandeur and glam. I am also so glad to see her embracing new vocal deliveries she first discovered with her recent underrated work Harlequin. The hard late 90s grungy alt rocky performance with French Electro / techno production might be the antidote Gaga needed since ARTPOP. Hail Mother! (From my RYM review) If you’re with me, share your reviews below, spread the word, and remind everyone that this song is celebrated by both fans and critics alike. Believe that the more people hear it, the more acclaim it will gather. Otherwise, please do not sour this moment and keep it quiet at least for a week or two. I’m telling you -this is the best reception she is experiencing and it is her fans this time who is not with her! https://rateyourmusic.com/release/single/lady-gaga/disease/ https://www.albumoftheyear.org/album/1106182-lady-gaga-disease.php 4 10

Mr S 8,203
That's a nice story, but we all know it'll end up at 79 on metacritic. Critics are leaner now with poptism but they still don't give Gaga her dues for some reason.
