Gaga's music relies a lot on promotion to chart. Gaga has been in in the game for almost 20 years, she had her imperial era and it was bigger than most. She's well on her way to legend status. She's not gonna be breaking records anymore, but she needs to be in the conversation and competitive with these girls. And this number indicates that she is. She also needs to be putting out quality and getting acclaim which has kind of eluded her so far. All in all, she broke her records and she made her mark. She is not Taylor Swift. She should focus on growing and pushing the limit with creative juices all while still competing with these new girls. Bey sells a bit more than Gaga, and she released Texas Hold Em without a full week and without a music video...and still debuted at #2. Disease is obviously nowhere near as GP friendly, but a top ten seems likely imo. I do think the roll out is weird, but someone brought up that interview where one of the Interscope executives talked about working with Atlantic and DWAS, and his big thing was they wanted longevity for their artists instead of front loading songs and albums. So that might be what Interscope (and her team) is going for here...because she clearly does have a music video on hand. I'm curious if she'll perform on Monday somewhere, too. IDK, at the end of the day I like the music, and Gaga has talked about this being a creatively fulfilling time for herself, so I'm just excited for good music.
