Ultimately Kim's entire existence is about more than her opinion on Kesha's struggle, and it is interesting people reduce her to nothing else but to how she behaved in that 1 interview. It's like defining Gaga by her infamous Swine performance and nothing else.
Lucas 23,955
People are going to hate me for this which is understandable but... I personally think that Kim and Katy are allowed to believe that Dr Luke didn't rape Kesha. I believe Luke did it but can we blame them for not believing it?

It's like defining Gaga by her infamous Swine performance and nothing else. I understand people can grow and learn from years ago, however, comparing the statement made by Kim insinuating she believed Kesha was never abused, to Gaga's SXSW Swine performance, are two totally different things. Gaga made pure art out of her abuse and pain, after she was told she needed to look beautiful, she rebelled and made herself look the ugliest she possibly could. Sure, you are saying she can't be defined by that one performance, but I think the two scenarios are totally different and shouldn't be compared. Kim made her comments about Kesha. Probably to save face with Luke. Although I was a huge FreeKesha supporter and would constantly battle users on this forum about Kim's comments, I never wished for any of the same abuse upon Kim that Kesha had to deal with. Now that she is free, I hope Kim can get to a similar place. Just goes to show you shouldn't sell yourself out. The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥ 2

liamgaga 465
I really don’t know an awful lot about Kim, her music isn’t really something I gravitate towards, however I have a really hard time believing that a queer woman who seems in tune with her fans and social media would willingly work with DR Luke after all the allegations. She hasn’t had absolutely huge mainstream success from him the way KP did back in the day, so there’s no real reason for her to want to continue working with him and continue to jeopardise her integrity reputation unless she is being forced to and those messages seem to suggest she is. when will he retire and leave women in the music industry alone?! Bradley 57,113
The way Dr Luke went from 'You're nothing without me' to 'You're nothing if you work with me.' 143 is evidence of that.

Is she really forced to? Is it a contractual thing? I'm not too familiar with how these things work. She has had a publishing deal with him since roughly 2013 based on when she moved to the US and started working with Aaron Joseph. Publishing deals are pretty much a record deal without financial support. So she was given distribution, but had to finance everything herself. Thus why she was “independent”. Her signing that publishing deal is also what allowed her to work with Aaron Joseph and most likely stay in the US for work purposes. 6 hours ago, PartySick said: Didn't she sign/renew with him after the allegations? Or was that someone else? I guess that's no sign she wasn't coerced or pressured into signing with him even if that's the case. Idk, when I met her she had a really good energy about her. I don't care for her music but I'd love to stan her so hopefully she's able to overcome whatever she's talking about We have zero clue what the terms of any contract she signed were. She had a publishing deal that would have been signed prior to allegations against Dr Luke - as her window of work with Aaron Joseph who is signed under Luke began roughly 2013. She only was signed under a record deal that financially supported her after the success of Unholy. Its possible her contract for publishing had terms that said she was would be signed to a record deal instead of just a publishing deal should she have a certain level of success as to mitigate financial risk. A “good” contract is exploitive at best. Even Gagas Interscope contract upon us learning its terms was VERY much in favor of Interscope and had her locked in for multiple albums before she could have any real say. Luke’s contracts are known for being exceptionally bad however. Kesha’s situation being the most publicly known.

I wonder, since they must run in the same circles, if there are maybe some things she knows that others don't. At least, that's what those tweets from Keshas friend allude. and yeah, Dojas Producers from Planet Her said they were confused that he was credited for multiple Songs, when he did not work on them. Bonnie McKee (signed to Luke from 2008 - 2014) talked about how Luke would kind of promise you amazing things and have you sign terrible deals, when you're not aware of how the industry works. Katy Perry, for example though, was never signed to Luke or under any contractual obligation after she switched Songwriting Publishing Companies in like 2010 or 2012. That means his involvement in 143 was all her decision. Yes, I believe I recall reading somewhere that Kesha doesn't like the hate Kim was receiving. It's very sad how there's clearly so many artists who are dealing with terrible deals. I wish for all of these artists to be free from having to work with him. It's very telling just going off of the things Doja and Kim have said and later retracted that they are not in a good situation (or at least very unhappy behind the scenes). 。゚☁ glued up, sometimes it's too much ☁ ゚。
