But that's backwards. Counting down from 10 lading to sedation is customary, not upwards. Unless it's different worldwide. But an interesting take regardless.

It perfectly bridges the gap between generic and experimental to create a space where it could easily become a hit. 

It will really come into its own with the music video and it's going to SLAP live. And, as is usually the case with Gaga, I know her album tracks will be better than the lead single. The lead is just to pull the GP in so she plays it a bit more safe. Even the second single alone could sound a whole lot better. I'm getting better vibes than I did for Chromatica, I feel this album will be a step up. Reviews are awesome, this will lead to her first ever album rated in the 80's or higher, I can feel it.

Honestly I think she went with 123 instead of 321 because it rhymes better with the song, either way it gives off the same idea you know?

I think it is really good. I like the dark sound and she is not trying to sound like the other pop stars. She always does her thing

Contrary to what others say, it's very different from her previous discography, similar with Joanne and Chromatica (yes they're distinct from her entire discography back then which left some fans in distaste), but with this it definitely feels she's gonna push towards deviating from her old sound. It does have elements of BTW but still I wouldn't put in the album as it just doesn't fit. It's very dirty, very dark. People saying it reminds them of ARTPOP cuz of the heavy production  ARTPOP wishes they have this kind of dirty rich production.

Rather than going back to her old self, it felt like she's embracing a new Gaga. It doesn't have to be better nor worse, just different. Harks back to when she said this is a new chapter for her and hoping her fans embrace the change and I can see why. 
I absolutely adore the song, just love it.

I’m not asking this in a shady way but have you never heard the phrase “like 123” before? It just means something is easy to accomplish/a simply achieved goal. She’s not saying it’s a 3 step process, she’s saying dominating the person she’s singing about is easy. Maybe that’s an American centric turn of phrase, but I’ve heard it all my life. 

It could have another meaning (though similar in context) of like in wrestling you “lay someone down” (pin them to the mat) and you win on a count of 3. But that again just means to easily dominate them. I think she’s meaning the former as it’s a common saying here but either works fine and conveys the same message.

It is a solid bop. Beautiful come back to pop music. I just wish it has a faster tempo and a stronger chorus.

The lyrics read like a fan made concept (mamapapapa.) While the song didn't really do much for me.

Sounds like the dark pop everyone's asking for that for sure.

I had hope for the album and I wouldn't be surprised to later find out this song was my least fav on the album.

 it's also normal to count upwards... at least I know both ways

(like when people get Anesthesia it's also common to count from 1 to 20 for example and not just the other way around)

 

and also when kids play hide and seek they count from 1 to whatever number until they start..

Honestly i found it kind of annoying too cause it's a very commercial line imo. Your explanation makes sense but it's still a bit more commercial than i expected

It's definitely growing on me the more i listen to it. It's a good song but the only thing that's missing for me is undeniably good lyrics, like we used to get back in the day. That's why i just don't think it's comparable to early Gaga. The only thing i can compare it to is maybe the dark theme that TFM also had
