VTV 13,911 Posted October 25, 2024 Share Posted October 25, 2024 Brazil’s official veterinary service notified the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) that the Newcastle disease situation in the country has been resolved. The presence of Newcastle disease was confirmed on July 17 in a commercial broiler flock in Anta Gorda, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The flock included 14,400 chickens, and of those, 3,472 died. Just a few days prior to the Newcastle disease situation being resolved in Brazil, the virus did appear in a commercial poultry flock in another part of the world. WOAH reported on October 22 that a flock of about 18,000 laying hens in Ödeshög, Sweden, had been affected. Depopulation and other control measures were being put in place at the time the report was issued.
