I don't get the obsession Americans have with celebrities talking about politics.

I think it's great that she hasn't spoken out considering what the current administration (that she supported) has done to the Palestinian people. or else people would be slamming her as they've been doing to Chappell Roan, who's the most grounded and conscious artist currently in pop music.

Unless you're Taylor Swift, and even she barely has any impact, Pop stars DO NOT move the needle when it comes to political influence.

she will obviously say something when the time comes. this things are meticulously planned by politicians, right now they seem to be targeting at republicans that are unhappy with trump. A gay icon won’t be of much help with that. She will speak about the election next month.

Thank GOD she hasn't spoken out in support of genocide-supporting, pandering Scamala. I swear it's very sad to see how delulu some of you are into thinking that a celebrity speaking out will actually change anything. Regular people with lives and who aren't terminally online don't look at a celebrity endorsement and go "wow yeah I will vote for this candidate because Lady Gaga told me to! " and if you do, you are a sad, misguided individual. Can't expect much from the average American though, y'all are not the most morally upright or brightest bunch. :triggered:

Biden's administration (Yes, that includes Kamala) actively fundS *PRESENT TENSE* the genocide of the Palestinian people, so they can both choke on a chainsaw. Trump isn't any better.

There is no conspiracy to round up the gays and put them in concentration camps, you still will be able to "exist" (whatever tf that means) regardless of which candidate who wins. But ofc this isn't me endorsing Trump who is equally an Israel-supporting scumbag.

If Gaga actually wants to do what is right, she would call people to action to reject both parties. Stein is the only openly pro-Palestinian candidate and thus the only moral choice. This is the correct opinion, and you are supporting genocide if you disagree. Sorry for getting heated but it when you see children getting blown up every day it changes you.

They do make an impact. And yes, Taylor swift endorsing kamala means all the white girls from republican states and republican families will vote for her just because taylor said so.

what is there for her to say? Didn't she perform at the inauguration for Biden? Do people think she will be team Trump suddenly? I'm confused.

It’s not who she’s voting for that people are dying to know- but how she will use her platform and her influence to enlighten and inspire others to go out and vote.

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

I get that you support Palestine (I do too), but there are way more issues than that when it comes to the government. Rejecting both parties will result in nothing. At least democrats wont ban abortions or work against lgbt rights. Yes, both parties are bad regarding Palestine, but that’s not the only thing that matters.

Since Gaga’s single release coincides with the election I guess she probably isn’t going to speak out. It’s just sad/surprising since she literally performed at some of the final campaign events for Hillary in 2016 and Biden in 2020. I feel like I’m losing touch with reality whenever I think about the fact that half of this country is either stupid or selfish enough to vote for that vile, sexist, self-serving, fascist pig :spin:

Statistically speaking, it is less of a fraction.

Of the 336mil people living in the US, approx 240mil are eligible to vote. Of that, in the 2020 election, only 158 mil cast their vote. That is 62% of people.

Rather than who someone votes for, I think it’s more helpful to view party participation. 43% are now independent or no party preference, and only 27% Republican and 27% Democrat. It’s worth noting, that in 2020 Dems made up 30% of the electorate, while 2008 it was 36%.

But that said, if 27% of 240 mil are registered Dem and 27% registered Rep, we’re looking at just about 19% of Americans for either party.

We are also a country where 67% of voters express a need for stronger third parties and a willingness to consider third parties. And a country where 90% of people poll support for humanitarian polices like universal health care, free public colleges and trade schools, and a higher minimum wage. These progressive policies, like that of the Green Party, are mainstream and we have been convinced as a population that it is futile to vote out of the two party system, when these odds couldn’t be more in our favor. Major party support at 19% and 19% is weak sauce compared to the possibility of a real people-centered reckoning.

So please, do not get down. We are not all drinking the KoolAid or lost in chaos. It’s mostly a media machine that tells us nothing is fundamentally possible and our own familiarity that prevents us. I believe we have so much to look forward to.

Gaga not speaking up speaks, to me, more to the general apathy that is in large part fueled by our billons to Israel, and our reckless and ineffective two party system. I know many who feel like it’s pointless. I know many who are afraid to speak to third party efforts. Tipping the scales toward humanitarian values like Susan Sarandon and being blamed for years is not something you would want, especially if your career is on the line. I have gotten a ton of push back for merely suggesting the viability of third parties long term, and I do not have corporate mechanisms behind me.

I give her Grace. I feel as though she has given a lot to us, politically, spiritually, emotionally. We lean on her bravery and are inspired by her expression.

Lets lean into love and not allow fear or expectations to cloud our perception of possibility or intention.

Love to you all.

Sorry girlypop but if you really supported Palestine in a non-performative way, I think that you would realize that +45 000 people being massacred, including bombing people in tents resulting in fires that melts the skin off of women and children, raping of prisoners, illegal settlements and blockade of food and water, among many other unspeakable atrocities,  is more of a pressing issue than abortion and LGBT rights.

Is this REALLY so hard for Americans to comprehend? Is that REALLY such a controversial stance in your country? We are talking about *LITERAL* human lives being extinguished as we speak thanks to your immoral, EVIL government. Kamala, Biden, Trump, these hypocrites deserve worse than the guillotine. And here you are crying because a celebrity isn't endorsing them. Sad.

I’d wish she support too, but it’s been a rough time for celebrity endorsements. People seem sick of hearing politics from celebrities, or celebs trying to influence their vote.

I think its Kamalas strategy to not be associated with any celebrity for her campaign. Because it seems like no celebrity is talking about it! The biggest celebrity moment was Charli XCX tweeting Kamala is Brat! I think not having Celebrity endorsement actually helps Kamala, so its better for Gaga to stay silent..

I also believe that she shouldn't say anything. Also, whether she says something or not, it wouldn't matter anyway. Most artists' endorsement wouldn't matter especially if your fan base already support the candidate you endorse.

Battle 4 Ur Life

it’s the only thing everyone is talking about right now. and it sks.

I think she is being GAGA by not commenting on it and choosing to do so (in the sense that maybe she’s already influencing and commenting). besides a lot of other personalities have remain silent so I don’t think she has any obligation.

I mean she did literally flaunt her cyber truck supporting Elon musk.. who is connected to Peter thiel who is connected to Russia and who is currently under investigation for breaking election law for bribing voters lol

I don’t doubt Gaga is voting kamala because they’ve shared the same gay pride denim jacket lol but I can’t see her coming out publicly this time I dunno why. It’s a shame especially since her dad is MAGA.
