I have no clue I only saw him on Drag Race Canada and I thought he was young and nice. Notwithstanding all his personal deficits that Flapjack listed off, Canada has a history of reaching the 8-10 year mark and turning on their PMs and the party in power. He was able to hold onto a base of 30-35% pretty easily after his initial landslide win, and that only started to really turn in 2022-23 when inflation was high and the housing crisis in Canada became more acute. His base is now more like 20-25%. Even if he and the government changed course drastically, I think its pretty baked in they will llose the next election. Which is terrifying, because the Conseratives have essentially become MAGA-North. The Maple Syrup MAGA as some Liberals have dubbed them now.
Shakmasda 258
The world upside down. Seems like getting rid of the decent ones such as Biden and Trudeau is easier than getting rid of the assholes such as Trump. Meh!

Again, a half-assing issue Flopped hardcore on housing, continuing the Harper administration method on it, and now has entrenched Canada's economy into an estate investing and not industry investing type (horrible for opportunity) Immigration has become one of the main issues Canadians want to see change. His administration plays the biggest governmental role in it by allowing 500k individuals to come into the country a year on top of the international students, making Canada's population grow by 1mill annually (fastest in the developed world) without the infrastructure, healthcare, housing, etc, to support any of it. This would be less of an immediate issue if the system wasn't being gamed and a vast majority of these individuals not leave the country once they were here. TFW and LMIA issues, his government took out the checks and balances to prevent corporations from exploiting a niche economic policy that stated companies could hire out of the country for specialized positions. It's exploited for literally any and every job atp that even high-school dropouts could work. This has crashed our entry-level or unskilled labor market (youth unemployment has skyrocketed, with many MANY grads not finding jobs in any sector), and many (including myself), cannot find employment even when highly educated. While they 'just' started to try and fix some of the issues, the system is so bad that the corps are just continuing to game it differently. Continuing with immigration issues, his party and people face a lot of criticism (at least from what I can see) about the quality of people they are letting into this country. A mix of "low" quality, uneducated, potentially problematic individuals, and those who are also not doing anything for the economy besides straining our social systems. We've had a handful of cases where the ease of entry has basically had potential terrorists coming into this country and planning terror attacks, only being flagged by other country's intelligence agencies. On an additional note, fake asylum-seeking is also an issue, with people pretending to be LGBT to get citizenship since they otherwise would not qualify. Now I know there isn't a way to check for that status, nor is it ethical to deny someone, but it is part of the bigger issue of gaming the system that his government has set up. His ego prevents him from acknowledging the faults of his party or his own, although that extends to many of the governmental bodies in this country. The guy doesn't take criticism. Wsas called problematic for not acknowledging the trucker convoy issue in a level-headed way (think Canada's trump supporters doing a storm the capital lite but with trucks ruining an already congested city) by the cons. I don't agree with either side on the matter because the issue related to American political propaganda seeping into Canada Foreign aid, people are tired of hearing billions of dollars going to foreign countries for climate support and equitable rights. Although this is an important matter, the average Canadian is dealing with so much that they don't want a single dollar going anywhere else atm. Canada's government also has the typical stance on the current wars going on Cons generally have never liked him cuz he's been very pro LGBT Cons have also managed to convince people that the carbon tax is actually a bigger deal than it is when in reality it's cents for the average consumer and mainly applies to big diesel (from my potentially wrong understanding of it). So, the opposition is running on cutting it, because it's easy to fearmonger and eliminate something that doesn't take any work, as opposed to running on fixing our housing, immigration, and job market issues that they have a hand in ruining intentionally. Generally, he's not really succeeded in fulfilling his running goals. Before COVID, he was generally tossed aside as unimportant. However, the post COVID mess ups in this country have made us feel like we are both drowning and on fire at the same time. Things are held together by strings. Sorry if this was difficult to read, it was a stream of consciousness, I'll come back and correct it later and answer any questions. that's quite thorough thank you. The idea that one person can continue to run the country so long as the manage to scrape by in an election is a nightmare. Libs lose, Cons win, and Canadians suffer. He goes? Reshuffle with a failing party with somehow worse polling, Cons win, Canadians suffer. He opts to stay AND win by some miracle? We remain suffering. As a very left-leaning Canadian, I cannot stand this man, just as much as I can't stand our MPS, provincial government, or any and all of the opposition. I wish Canada had stronger power checks built into the system, in addition to greater citizen representation in government as opposed to the lobbyists that have destroyed our country. PP and him are both tools for the super rich, I haven't seen a collective government so out of touch with its population in my lifetime (obviously there are more obvious cases, but we pretend to be a 1st world leading country for some reason... maybe in being sellouts). I dislike all 3 main parties rn so tbh i feel it is 100% loose-loose-loose NDP: a bit too agressive against corps and business in my opinion. While I support the general idea of better wealth redistribution, we still need to compete with the US who we are highly interlinked with. Ever since Trumps tax cuts weve lost a lot of business investment especially foreign. In a perfect world we wouldnt have a race to the bottom but this is the reality, so we can not exagerate or we do more harm than good. If Kamala wins and reverses Trumps business and corporate cuts, the rates Jagmeet Singh proposes may be more duable with less side effects Liberals: Their mismanagement the last 9 years is very obvious and evident. While a few good things were done such as improved child care coverage... theyve largely left big issues like red tape and beaureocracy holding back economic growth in this Country largely untouched if not made it worse. Then theres allowing 1.2M immigrants a year and only after housing got super bad suddenly they realize that they have a major problem there they have to adress As for the Right winged Conservatives... Polievre is obnoxious and constantly lying and misleading. And while I maybe trust the Conservatives the most of the 3 parties to improve investment and anemic economic growth weve had for nearly a decade, I do not trust them to balance those priorities with the needs of the poor and disadvantaged on an individual level So rn I hate all 3. gumzy3000 7,901
Canada has been hit with high inflation, rising housing costs, and immigration policies that do not consider the people who already live here. But guess what? These problems are not unique to Canada, they are happening in almost every highly developed country. For example, lot of people still want to move to places like US, UK, Netherlands, and Germany. These countries are facing similar issues to one another. The pandemic, war in Ukraine, etc have affected the world. The blame shouldn't just lie on Trudeau. While the European countries are sorta struggling to an equal or greater extent than us in some or many aspects, I do feel that the US, while also struggling in many ways, still undoubtedly has more opportunity in sectors that frankly barely exist in Canada (not to mention people get compensated for their times a bit better as professionals). Whether it's a demographic issue, an investing issue, or otherwise, we've put all of our chips into estates and not the people while they seem to still be motivated to open more job opportunities. Mind you, I'm glad we're not focused on issues of autonomy and abortion in this country, but we also don't have options that will make any significant change. But to get to what you're saying, I agree, Trudeau is not the sole reason this country is flopping, but our system of government and bureaucracy as a whole needs a severe facelift. I doubt we will see that anytime soon, or ever.

I doubt we will see that anytime soon, or ever. Our economy being dominated by real estate is going to create a few winners and a lot of losers in the long term. People are saving money now just to buy property when a strong economy is fueled by business investment. I feel like Canada has hit a plateau in terms of development. For example, we have universal healthcare, social assistance, decent education, a high standard of living - but we are lacking in direction on how to improve this to the next level. In fact, it seems like its getting worse... As for your comparison to the US, I have been there many times since I have relatives there. It really is more or less the same. America definitely has way more job opportunities and midsized cities with affordable housing, but their health care and education is expensive. There is also the issue of crime and political extremism. Also, Americans work more than Canadians. I wouldn't necessarily say that's a good thing. Laws and companies should give workers time off and benefits so that they can enjoy life. I think Canada and Europe do this much better, and I will take that way of thinking any day. trolly troll troll

All of that is 100% his fault. The fact that he gets some unfair blame for overall global conditions we cant escape from doesnt negate the mediocre job he did in everything else imo
