I feel like there’s two different types of long here. MTN felt cinematic and storytelling and GUY was hmmm how do I say this nicely? Busy?

agreed

i don't really care about the length as long as the music video is good and has some decent replay value

REALITY

I would love a long music video! Those are some of her best imo: MTN, Alejandro, You and I, etc. Something more cinematic with a storyline would be amazing, especially since you don't see a lot of that nowadays.

i’d go for a short music video, but it’s gotta be bold with a cool, complex concept... one of those you just wanna watch again and again without getting bored

She had too many ideas and not enough time to prepare and polish the video, let's say this :)

It’s just. Why did we have Jesus and MJ and Minecraft and Lego and Andy Cohen and the housewives!? There are some beautiful and iconic parts it’s just so rammed full of the weirdest inclusions lady gaga please GIF

They should first release a short version (like DWAS) and few days later an extended version, which can be as long as it needs, a whole story.

Max 1 minute longer than the song, but would also love a 6-7 min video for the last single of the era.

Ideally, quite short, to make it replayable, not just for the fans, but for us too. It makes it much easier to refresh and get more streams and makes it quicker to hit view milestones. And truth be told, I don't watch her super long videos that often. DWAS just hit 200m views in just 2 months partly because it was the length of the song, no more or less, the public appreciate that. If you look at other hit songs right now, it's the same story. But if she is going to make it long, no more than 5 minutes, 6 minutes tops. If she's going to be make an epic, save it for the final video because by that point, it'll only be the true fans who will still be sticking around anyway so it won't matter if it doesn't get crazy views.

that's so true omfg. maybe that's why 911 was more of a short film whereas stupid love and rom were the more traditional music videos

I remember when she started to make shorter videos round about Joanne time, there was a fan who said "she's learning." Basically meaning that the first 2 singles are the ones most likely to be hits, so they have to be the ones that connect the most with the public and the sight of an 8+ minutes timestamp is just going to turn them off or decide to just listen to the audio. You'll notice her long videos are always the ones that take the longest to hit 100m views and have the least amount of likes. You can't have that for a lead single, especially in an age where videos aren't watched like they once were.

Omg. So true. I love that. I guess I'll save my 'long form video' expectation for a later date then haha. Hopefully she does do something like in this era eventually
