AirPod's Hearing Aid Feature Will Be Included On iOS 18.1 Next Week

Apple has officially confirmed that iOS 18.1 will launch to the public next week, alongside a major new firmware update for AirPods Pro 2 users. 

iOS 18.1 includes the first set of Apple Intelligence features, such as Writing Tools, notification summaries, and Clean Up in the Photos app. There are a number of non-Apple Intelligence features included in the update, too.

There are a few key things to know about Apple’s hearing test. For one, it’s designed so that you can’t predict or game it. The test can play any frequency at any time, so no two are the same.

You can also import charts from tests you’ve taken with a hearing professional. This data is what’s used to configure the hearing aid feature.

The Verge and The Wall Street Journal both confirmed today that the AirPods Pro 2’s hearing health features will launch next week with a new firmware update for AirPods and iOS 18.1. Apple had previously only confirmed that iOS 18.1 would launch sometime in October, so this marks our first official confirmation that the update is coming the week of October 28. 

Apple didn’t specify an exact date for the launch of iOS 18.1 other than next week, but Bloomberg previously reported that the update is set for October 28.

In addition to Apple Intelligence and the new hearing health features for AirPods Pro 2, iOS 18.1 also brings changes to Control Center, upgrades to iPhone Mirroring, and call recording and transcription features. With iOS 18.1, Apple is also opening up the iPhone’s NFC chip to third-party developers for the first time.

That also means we’re about to enter an era where we’ll need to get comfortable with people wearing earbuds at all times. There’s a perception that leaving your earbuds in while talking with other people is rude. Transparency mode in many of today’s earbuds sounds totally natural and lifelike, yet I still constantly remove my buds to show someone they’ve got my undivided attention. That way of thinking has to change when popular earbuds start pulling double duty as hearing aids. It’s a powerful way to reduce the stigma that’s all too common with hearing aids, but this shift will take time.

I just found out I was always deaf and everything I’ve been hearing has been my imagination!

I updated everything and it's nowhere to be found  I'll let you know once it decides to pop up.... 

 

(yes I'm using 18.1 RC, newest AirPod firmware and in Canada... maybe it's glitched lol)

you have to have the newest air pods i believe or newest iphone cause i updated like you and Im in the usa. I hate when you have to upgrade... I wanted to do that picture cleaner upper and thats 'apple intelligence '' bulll$hit.

Yeah the AI is iPhone 15 pro or newer and I have the 15 pro Max and this hearing thing requires AirPod pro 2 which I am using.. so it should appear... time to send them an angry email!

While you’re wearing your AirPods, go to settings and tap on the AirPods settings. You should see a Hearing Heath section in there. It’ll only show while you’re wearing them. It’s only available in the US and Canada.

It’s firmware for the AirPods which hasn’t been pushed by Apple yet

Hearing safety features is only exclusive to AirPods Pro 2 currently. They might also give it to APP3 next year. But no other airpods are getting it.

Apple Intelligence on phones compatible for iPhone 15 Pro and Promax and the whole 16 lines. It also available for iPads & Mac with M1 and M2 chips.
