Sorry if this was unclear, I meant that they can drive to whatever city the tour is stopping in their state. A tour is supposed to be for the artist to visit your local city...

That crazy thing of european shows being filled with 40% americans have to stop... I saw on french news that some of them were only staying for like 2 or 3 nights in Europe and then flew back. The carbon emissions for this is insane...

I understand that people really wanna see their favorite artists. I just think its time to start thinking about the impact.

EDIT: i was talking about Taylor Swift shows, it was also similar for Beyonce

There need to be laws in place where if stuff like this happens the event organizers are also responsible for any expenses that include airfare, hotel, etc.

They cannot keep getting away with this.

I mean even if they get a switch option or a refund for the tickets... Can they get one for hotels/ plain tickets already booked? 2 weeks prior seems too late to get full refunds.

I don't understand booking non-refundable plane tickets and hotels for things like this. Maybe if you're going to see Meemaw or your 2 year Grindr fling. But when you're relying on a stranger to be reliable?

people are acting like if this was Shakira's decision while I'm pretty sure its Live Nation taking the decision. And we all know Livenation is a money grabbing machine. I think there s been a shift in the industry since the beginning of the streaming era and they have to maximize profits from touring. building two different shows was probably really expensive.

Another thought is that people should stop travelling/flying for shows...

Anyway this is still very respectful.. I think the weekend did the same with the after hours tour. They should plan in advance

How would Livenation ever have such big control over scheduling? Shakira's team gives Livenation parameters for a tour and Livenation gets it booked and promoted. It's not that Livenation called up Shakira and said "hey you're not touring in 2 weeks, free up your schedule for next summer".

the flights they're on are gonna be flying with or without them, they aren't each flying in their own private jet

And yet if less people would be flying, there would be less flights planned.

What kind of reasoning is this lol

Big yikes. I consider this a big disrespect to fans who bought tickets and made plans.

On another note, stadium concerts genuinely suck.

1) 90% of the audience see the stage from so far that you end up watching the screens anyways.
2) Plus the acoustics of stadiums (especially new ones) are designed to create noise which makes the sound quality even worse.
3) Stadium concerts mean there will be tons of people who go there for the bling of being seen there on social media. Dead crowds.

I grew up attending stadium concerts all the time. Now I only even tolerate arena concerts if I wanna see the show so badly (like the Sweat Tour). Actual concert venues have the best acoustics. Plus those small acts don't cut corners musically and rely on backtracks and visuals. They play totally live music from the instruments to the vocals, and the crowds are lively and present in the moment...

This is common when demand is high. I remember when I booked tickets for Lana back at the start of her career for one of two concert hall dates and she cancelled them because demand was so high and exchanged it for one arena date instead. It is bad news for people who couldn't make the new date but this is just how the touring business is done - work smarter, not harder. It's cheaper to do one big venue than do multiple smaller venues. And after seeing how well Beyonce and Taylor smashed with their stadium tours as well as additional ones like Pink and Coldplay, stadium gigs are now seen as the standard if you've had a decent amount of time in the industry. Shakira's also set a lot of new records with the South American dates she's already announced (she booked a lot of places Taylor didn't) so she'll want to continue it. To think, she did her SB show with J-Lo over 5 years ago, neither could capitalise on the new-found interest in them because the pandemic began not long after but now Shakira has crazy demand for stadium shows and yet J-Lo had a cancel an arena tour as she had no demand for even that. Awkwaaaard.

Makes me excited for when Gaga does a proper length stadium tour with LG7. Now we're really going to see what she's made of. It's high time she made a tour that beats TMB tour gross. She deserves it. Poor thing keeps on getting injured or ill just when she's about to make the big bucks.

I feel like the majority of people aren't traveling WEEKS in weeks in advance for a show tho :rip: it'd be different if she announced this 1-2 days before

Nah but booking things can be done way in advance.

I saw Gaga on the Chromatica Ball tour in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Miami and if she cancelled those dates and moved them several months into the future...I mean, two weeks out? I already had my flights booked, hotels booked, time off of work approved, plans coordinated with other people, I would have simply got a refund and visited those places without seeing her :icant:

Meh, flights only account for like 2% of carbon emissions. For context, concrete production accounts for 8% and cars account for 28% :laughga:

Planes are total carbon belchers but there's only about 8,000 planes in the air at any given time, apparently. According to air traffic websites :vegas:

Disaster…..

I sincerely hope fans refuse to buy tickets in protest. If they buy again, it only sends the message that this was acceptable.

She is 30 years into her career with a huge demand, so why would you do an arena in the first place?

Yeah I don't get this. She's doing huge stadiums in LATAM so why not do it in in the US? They're most likely to sell out there.
