Yes, it is different country now. Lebanon was once (20th century) a predominantly Christian country, which was orientated towards the West and guaranteed liberal freedoms. Since Muslim immigrants led to Muslims making up over 50 per cent of the population, a civil war erupted, plunging the country into chaos and an erosion of women's freedoms and harassment of non-Muslims. It is only a matter of time before Muslims will make up the demographic majority in France, the UK, Sweden and elsewhere in Western Europe and will not be satisfied with the constitutions there, as these are not Koran-compliant, but will mould these countries according to their countries of origin and then conditions like those in Lebanon will arise. However, the mass immigrants into the US are generally Latinos and Latinos are historically of Spanish-European origin who are compatible with American/British-European values. The third generation of Latinos is integrating into the post-British-American society and adopting their Western values. Mexico as a whole is westernizing. This can also be seen in the fact that they (3rd generation Latinos in US) generally watch little to no Hispanic TV and are completely orientated towards the US entertainment industry. This is very different from Western Europe, where the third generation of Muslims continues to isolate themselves in parallel societies, set up their own Muslim sports clubs, restaurants, etc., watch the TV stations from their countries of origin, listen to nationalist music like the one example you mentioned, and Muslim girls are often not allowed to marry non-Muslims and if a Muslim man marries a non-Muslim woman, the non-Muslim woman is expected to convert to Islam, while the Muslims almost never convert to Christianity. Latinos are shifting towards western values in the long term. English is a strong language everywhere in America, even in Florida. Also Latinos usually aren't nationalists like most conservative Muslims are, this makes it easier to become truly US-American. I do amit that the chaos in Lebanon is also a long-long-time result of French/British colonialism and that the West is to be blamed, too, for how things turned out to be. France & UK were not interested into peace in the Middle East, but deliberately drew very artifical borders in a way to provoke ethnic tensions and to steal resources. Since you know Lebanon well: Do you think Lebanon will in future have a Pálestinian-origin or Syrian-origin majority or continue to be a mix? It seems like shes planning a new war if she becomes president. I mean its already happening 10 hours ago, hieronymus said: I think it's because Iran is the Middle Eastern super power that the US has yet to control/conquer, and the fastest way to mobilize the Christian American mind right now is mentioning Israel. It's the new "war on terror" I don't see the US becoming directly involved with another war in the middle east tbh. At best, we'd support Israel the same way we do now while continuing to funnel humanitarian aid into places like Gaza. It's infuriating 'cause Obama took an enormous step towards legitimate peace with Iran, a step that Israel was unhappy with, and then Trump tore up the entire thing basically ensuring this conflict would happen violently rather than diplomatically. Anyway, no way Americans support another war. We JUST ended a 20 year war over nothing. We're not doing it again. Whimsical bitch

Since you know Lebanon well: Do you think Lebanon will in future have a Pálestinian-origin or Syrian-origin majority or continue to be a mix? Lebanon's problem is not Muslims, as I said in the example above, even Christians immigrants from other neighboring countries are culturally different from Christians in Lebanon. Muslims in America are doing amazing, unlike Muslims in Europe, so the problem is not Muslims. There is nothing western about Latinos in America, its not true that they are becoming western or assimilating. Muslim Americans are more western and assimilated than latinos in America in my opinion. Palestinians in Lebanon are completely assimilated in Lebanon, so there is not alot of issue with them today, and alot of them live in refugee camps. Syrians will eventually leave Lebanon, but it all depends on what happens with the new Lebanese government and what Hezbollahs future is after the war. Most Latinos in the US, whether directly immigrant or second, third, generation are very well assimilated to the US. I say this as a first generation American from immigrant parents from a Latin American country.

First you need to recognize not all Latinos are the same. Second, what is being Western to you? How are you defining it? Because the only difference between me and other Americans is that I speak Spanish and have a second culture.

I never said all Latinos are the same, and im also not talking about you. Western means you speak the language, you understand the culture, and you support general Western values. I was just trying to make a point that its not a Muslim thing, Christians and Christians can also be different if they come from different countries

Muslim Americans are more western and assimilated than latinos in America in my opinion. Oh this is a fascinating topic and I kind of wish we had more research on it. I’m gonna say I have to disagree. I’ll preface by saying I’ve lived my whole life on the West coast so my opinion is heavily influenced by Mexican and Central American immigrants and of course, my Mexican family. It’s my opinion that the immigrating generation (the generation that was born outside of the US and came here farther along in their life) do struggle with assimilation because there’s such a large community of Hispanics here. It’s like a safety bubble. There’s less pressure to learn the language to a T and adopt all mannerisms (class also plays a huge factor but I’ll leave that alone). Now, their children (both the ones that were born in the US and the children that were brought here at an early age) assimilate very, very quickly. I grew up in a community that was about 80% Hispanic. It’s a hot bed for Mexican and Central American immigration because of the established community. So, there were kids joining our class frequently through the years. It’s my observation that as long as they came here before high school, for the most part they integrated very well. We’re at an age where a lot of them have kids now, and let me tell you, there are a lot of Aidens and Jaydens running around that couldn’t give 2 shits about learning Spanish or anything related to their Hispanic culture. It’s there. They’ll knowledge it, but the American identity is front and center. If one parent is white American, baby it’s a wrap. Those kids are white white because there’s an eagerness to embrace that culture over their own. That brings up another thing, Hispanics (I use Hispanic instead of Latino btw) are more likely than any other group to marry outside their race, usually to white Americans. It’s my opinion that Hispanics in the US past that that immigrating generation assimilate in a way that’s almost sad. I think you’d be surprised at how many people you’ve met in the US or have seen on TV that have roots in a Latin American country and you didn’t even know it. Obviously, the US has one of the largest Hispanic populations in the world. (I believe the Greater Los Angeles area alone has a Spanish-speaking population that rivals that of Madrid, Spain). So it’s inevitable that you’re going to run into people that are loud and proud of their Hispanic heritage. So much so that you’d probably ask yourself if they actually assimilated. That’s just the surface level. If you take a deep dive, it’s my opinion that Hispanics assimilate very fast to the American identity. Which I think is what you mean by Westernized. I just tried to compare Hispanic Americans to Muslims Americans to prove a point that Muslims are not the issue, because two Christians from different cultures can have a cultural issue. Only because the commenter was trying to make Muslims the issue
