I saw it on opening night! Incredible film. It was like Videodrome meets The Neon Demon. The director also made Revenge, which is another great film to check out!

SO HE MADE THIS?! Iconic tbh! I love both of these :bradley:

TMBT 3.22.11 // TBTWB 1.17.13 // ArtRAVE 6.3.14 // C2CT 5.28.15 // TJWT 8.13.17 // Chromatica World Tour 9.8.22

It’s definitely heavy on gore, but I was more disgusted with the use of food in this movie. Dennis Quaid pounding dozens of shrimp in the first scene was disturbing. There’s also a cooking sequence that made my stomach turn. I won’t be eating eggs for a while.

Spoiler

Ok but the chicken leg… :cryga: THE CHICKEN LEG

YESSSSSS! I adore French styled horror. The director is INCREDIBLE.

THE WAY I GAGGED. The scene with the eggs splattering everywhere and the enormous amounts of rotting food from Elizabeth's depressive episodes? I can handle anything in horror, but food related horror makes me stomach hurt! :messga:

King of the Fall

I watched it recently and was really impressed, one of those times that all the hype is fully justified.

I'm gonna be very surprised if this is nominated at the Oscars because it's not really the type of film you see there but the hype and people making it an event could push it there. Cinematography, Make Up I could see getting nominated. Demi deserves there and hope it's considered for Best Picture but highly doubt it.

I absolutely loved it and the biggest surprise this year. I'm getting this on Blu Ray.

Watched it tonight and, listen, I had my eye on this movie since Cannes, so my expectations were quite high. I knew I would at least enjoy it ‘cause everyone’s been saying so many nice things over the last couple of weeks. But boy did I NOT expect that second hour. It started quite campy and fun but somewhere in the middle section I was a little bit “yeah it’s just ok”, so when things started to pick up :bradley: Ugh! The power that that has! The intelligence that that has! The clearance that that has! The impact that that has! The access that that has! The influence that that has! The profile that that has! The international implications that that has! The whatthe****ness that that has! The social grossness that that has! Perfect ending.

I had almost lost hope on good horror movies, to be honest. Nothing so far this year comes even close in the impact that it made, with the exception of Kurosawa’s Chime, but leave it to the master to have me terrified at an empty chair. Fingers crossed for the Oscars ‘cause this right here’s more than deserving of a few sweeps.

It's already released and it premiered in Cannes to rave reviews.

It’s not released everywhere yet, for instance it’s coming to France on November 6th, which is super frustrating as it is actually a French film.

ARTPOPSYCHOLOGY

Maybe I’m an outlier but I don’t get all the hype this film got *re: the gore, grossness, etc* I thought it was very inventive for a more and Demi was a queen as always but the last 20 minutes me and my bf were literally laughing lol. Love the concept but I don’t think the message really got across as they wanted

I can only watch it early tomorrow but most of the showings are empty (I’m scared to go alone) and the one that isn’t has only 1 person in it. That’s even more scary. :selena:

It was intentionally comical and a wtf moment. I feel like it reflected Elizabeth’s journey - you want her to stop way earlier in the film when she has the chance to, but she keeps going and going until the wheels fall off and the ending gives you that same feeling.

Not the bore worms!

To everyone waiting to see it on streaming, DON'T! This deserves to be seen in a packed cinema, the shared experience of schock and horror is one to never forget :thriller:
