This is going to become some weird kind of classic for all the wrong reasons :volantis:

I want to see the parallel timeline where Joaquin's wife plays Lee so badly, just to see how that would've played out

right!? it's going to feel like something else years from now

In one week, he went from being a director whose work I appreciated/was curious to see more, to a person and artist I absolutely respect. He knew very well they wouldn't understand his vision and did it with all their money anyway.

Sure but the studio uses losses like these to justify layoffs

Sure, but the current discussion is more about how cruelly underused she is in the film rather than how mind blowing her performance is. I think it’s quite obvious we can forget about the Oscars - if she didn’t get a nom for House of Gucci, she won’t get one for this, let’s be real.

But "she was under-used" is basically saying "she was so good that she should've been in it more." I have seen reviews praising her and saying she was the best thing about the movie. I'm not saying that you're wrong but to completely write off her chance of an Oscar nomination is a bit too premature. She's definitely be gunning for best supporting actress and that category is wide open this year. The only credible choice for consideration right now other than Gaga is Julianne Moore. Gaga may get nominated purely to pad out the nominations, which I know isn't a noble way to get it, but regardless of reasoning, a nomination is a nomination. She didn't get the nomination for HoG because her role was very polarising, some thought she was good, others thought she was cringey. And it was widely known that the lead actress nominations got re-jigged a bit because Penelope Cruz's nomination stands out like a sore thumb since she didn't get nominated at any other major ceremony and Gaga had. It's widely believed by fans that that spot was for Gaga and it helped that Penelope was a previous Oscar winner. I disagree, her role of Harley has already been praised much more than Patrizia as there was nothing you could pick fault with this time.

Maybe I'm wrong and I'm not saying she'll win if she's nominated, but do I think her chances of a nomination are high? Absolutely. I'm just bookmarking all these threads for future reference...

Julianne Moore is far from being the only contenter this year, the whole cast of Emilia Peréz has great chances of getting noms and actually winning.

I’m not trying to put down Gaga’s performance, I do think she did a fine job with the material she was given. But I’m also being real here: there’s too much disappointment over the film and her character in particular to warrant a nomination. And honestly, that’s ok too, y’all need to take a chill pill when it comes to awards and charts.

Don’t get me wrong, I would be the happiest seeing Gaga getting a nod. But guys, can we spare ourselves the disappointment and stop being delusional for once?

It's not about being huge success either. You clearly don't get it, maybe you are not in workforce yet.

What's that supposed to mean? The photo is authentic, if that's what you're getting at.

Trying to take the debate personally is also not a cute look.

Shadow

$200 million?  Where did the rest of the $148 million go?

Could this be Todd's last big project?

so then explain why and who is suffering and where did u get this from, it's also not about getting or not getting, you stated people are suffering lol, the movie tanked at the box office, warner is the only one really affected by this, and they are completely fine, the made plenty of money with the first joker, and also whos to say they cant make a profit in the long run with this movie? we never know, but they are perfectly ok as a company, nobody's suffering
