Naufri

The only movie I've seen destroying an actress career was showgirls, and that was under very specifics circumstances where crítics considered the protagonist performance the worst aspect of the movie.

Joker is not going to destroy any career, not even the director one lol.

Margot Robbie was in the movie that lost the most money one year (Babylon) and the one that made the most the following year (Barbie).

The thing is... Margot Robbie's fan aren't involved in a stan war...

The movie is rated worse than Madame Web by cinemascore (which I was fortunate enough to be able to personally participated in), how is it too dramatic? :franminervini:

But remember that dungeon dwelling women and musical hating incels are a probably a large percentage of people that do comic book reviews on these sites. The GP probably don't feel as strongly idk

Cinemascore get their ratings from actual movie goers aka (mostly) the gp who watches it, typically during the forst day of opening week on Friday. They gave out a card by the entrance to everyone who enters and ask them if they mind to rate the movie and hand the card back to them when the walk out of the auditorium.

This is how the card look like from my screening on Monday:

as you can see, in the card, they were asking simple questions such as age, gender, (so they know the demographics of the movie), why you watch the movie, if you gonna get/rent the movie on other forms (DVD, Digital), as well as what do you rate to movie on, in form of A to F scale.

And this is why Cinemascore are very trusted, even with people who work in the movie industry. Cos you can't hate spam on that unlike other form of movie ratings available.

But honestly, I'm baffled that the movie cost 200M to produce, like...how?? :duck:

I read an article that said 90 million was for Phoenix, Phillips, and Gaga alone. And most of that was NOT Gaga. I think Phillips really cashed in on the first movie's success. I don't think he had a plan. It was a good payday mostly.

CinemaScore is far from the most important thing in Hollywood.

Madame Web opened to 17.6 million. No one is out here saying Joker is worse than Madame Web.

It just means opening night audiences were more sympathetic to Web and were angrier about Joker. Probably because they went in expecting something great.

There are movies with great reviews that have D or even F CinemaScores. It's just one piece of the puzzle.

Grace Randolph also said that most of the budget went towards salaries. But still, 20M for Todd and Phoenix, and 12M for Gaga, plus 50M (being generous) for cast and crew would still put it at just a bit over 100M. Where the other 100M went still makes no sense. This movie had less locations and sets than the first one and that on cost 55M. Maybe Todd did really take A LOT more than he should’ve. I mean, kinda smart cause he’s not the one absorbing the loses. He literally took someone else money, made a **** movie and left pretty much unscathed.
