Hahaha, who cares ?! :ladyhaha:

I enjoyed it and probably will rewatch one or two more times. I also don’t understand what people were expecting from the movie? If anybody would have bothered to watch the first one these reviews shouldnt be shocking. The first one worked so well because it really was able to show desperation, loneliness and abandonment due to the one-man nature of the movie. You were confronted with Arthur for two hours. Adding more characters, especially Lee, is more or less doomed because either you loose the focus or LMs will be mad she’s not the leading role renaming the movie after her.

It's important to make your own decisions and see the film! I've hated films that were praised. I've loved films that were panned. Film is subjective. You gotta see the product before you can make a decision.

Same. I saw it on IMAX yesterday and standard screening tonight. There are SO many layers and self references and tons to dive into. It's definitely not a surface layer film, and its kind of you either get it or you don't.

It's not perfect by any means. I definitely would have loved more Gaga stuff and the Folie A Deux, imo, is not Joker and Harley. If you've seen the intro to the film, then that's what I think the Folie A Deux really is. The marketing was tricky on this one.

At any rate, I loved it and can't wait to own it and watch it again  People get so tied up in negative reviews, performance, etc that it dampers their experience with the film. So much of this backlash or whatever is forced and it's kind of funny imo.

Yeah, I absolutely agree the marketing was a huge issue. I also think it's likely James Gunn, Todd Phillips, and Zaslav clashed. There's plenty of rumors and even receipts that all three, particularly Zaslav, can be as*holes and feel like their way is the only right way. Also, however I feel about Snyder, I thought it was kind of f*cked up that Gunn (even if I like his work) basically dragged him publicly.

NGL, Gaga is lucky the industry despises Joaquin right now and Todd Phillips, because I suspect they'd try to blame this entirely on her otherwise. I've seen some comic book fans try to twist a couple of Joaquin and Gaga's interviews to make it seem like they rewrote the script with Todd lol (which is insane, as they are basically suggesting Gaga wrote a huge chunk of her character out), but even then the comic book fans are at least spreading the blame and going after Todd the most.

We won't really know a whole lot about what happened to this film for awhile (it took a long time for the full scope of the interference on Suicide Squad and Justice League to come out), but from where I am at the moment I'm inclined to say this didn't have a whole lot to do with James Gunn. At least not in the way that some (mostly those who're still very attached to Snyder's universe) believe.

I think this story is ultimately going to turn out to be what Todd wanted to do and what Warner was expected ended up being two different things.

I think this film on a conceptual level is very flawed, and it was filmed flawed. I also believe that parts of it went through significant changes in editing. That's not to say they gave it an entirely new story, but there's clearly stuff that was shot that is absolutely missing here and we know for certain that they changed the ending.

Personally, I think Todd (and to a lesser extent Joaquin) got very hyper-focused on making this film very antagonistic toward it's audience. It very blatantly throws away anything that resembles the comics (not necessarily a bad thing, but they went about doing it in a way that seemed planned to ruffle feathers), it spends a large chunk of it's runtime torching the first film and almost admonishes the audiences for even enjoying it or caring about Arthur, and it does it while being the most non-committal musical ever.

Gunn saw the film, and we know he gave some notes on it, but I really don't think this final cut is reflective of most of any of what he said. This doesn't play like a Gunn film. He is not an antagonistic filmmaker, nor is he a particularly mean spirited one. This movie is both.

I have a feeling that this film got really shuffled about in the editing process, and I would not be surprised to find out that someone like Zaslaov or someone else high in Warner found whatever the film that got shot was to be just too much. We know a lot got cut, and i'd be interested to see the content. I refuse to believe Warner wasn't aware this film was going to piss people off, but I've got a feeling this is even a toned down version of what they really shot.

That sounds like the most plausible theory as something clearly went down in the editing process.

Sorry but what? I went yesterday to watch it and it wasn't that good but still it was okay? Like yes at some point it can get boring.

But for the music part, the movie justifies why it's a musical, and sometimes it makes sense why they put on music. And be grateful they don't sing the whole song. DC fans are trully sheet huh

LG7? CANCELLED

damn :/ I wish the movie had been better, I was really hoping to fall in love with it. but ugh it was just so boring and disjointed and lame

Same feelings :( at least I’m enjoying Harlequin album, because Joker FAD Soundtrack is unlistenable. Acting was good, but the storyline was flat. For me it was too much singing depressing songs (mostly performed by Phoenix) and there was no character development of Lee… I feel disappointed after yesterdays premiere.

they might say that we're crazy, but i’m just in ❤️ with u

Omg does this mean she could get her first Razzie?

Going for that REGOT :excited2:

(Honestly this movie has upset me. There was so much potential with Gaga as Harley)

Conspiracy theory: Gaga knew it was bad and that's why she's been working extra hard with DWAS, Harlequin, and LG7 to have more irons in the fire during this crisis.

Once I read about them "tearing up" the script in their trailers, I knew it was a bad sign.

Who knows what the original script even was. But she probably realized on set there was no one steering the ship.

I honestly think a lot of this has to do with how deceptively this movie was marketed. I don’t think audiences were going to love it regardless because this plot is really aggressively not what anybody wanted and has stuff people were going to hate no matter what, but the marketing straight up lied about what this movie is and it’s pissing people off.

This. People didn't expect to see a courtroom drama that rehashes the first movie. They expected a crazy person to fall in love with a crazy person and the mind games they play on each other and others.

There are some really great moments in the film, but they now get covered in the general shroud of disappointment.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch
