At least people would’ve flocked to the cinemas to see it and it would’ve taken longer for word of mouth to spread. The mumblings of it not being ‘that great’ started already after Venice. Wb made all the wrong moves here. Also, it's standard practice in Hollywood for film studios to screen their films. It's how you determine if ordinary audience members will like it. You figure out if pacing needs to be cleaned up, if scenes need to be deleted or moved around, etc, etc. The fact that they didn't screen this is a huge problem. Their own hubris is their downfall. Tbh. The DC brand is cooked. I love Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, but this studio does not respect these characters. Besides Joker and The Batman, WB hasn't had a hit DC movie in the last five years. I fear James Gunn's Superman, no matter how bad or good it is, will flop, too. That being said, I enjoyed it better the second time I hope she at least gets a nom for Best Original Song and hopefully wins so she gets something out of this mess Yeah I would cut most songs from it, literally all it needed was 2 maybe 3 at a push of the songs and it could've landed better. Everyone agrees she is the one saving grace of this trainwreck, it was even included in the critics consensus. NGL, Gaga is lucky the industry despises Joaquin right now and Todd Phillips, because I suspect they'd try to blame this entirely on her otherwise. I don't think it's a total nightmare for Gaga as the critics generally praised all of the acting, but it's still bad. Morgan Wallen is coming on the 18th anyway, and he's going to overshadow everything and dominate after he releases. Not to mention late October is going to be full of people celebrating Halloween and consumed by politics in the US. We know they already have a music video. She should just drop it this week, and try and preform on a talk show Friday night or the following Monday. Gaga might not care about the charts, but she's definitely going to have to hustle a little bit imo if she wants the album to be a success. Streaming has totally changed the game—look at The Weeknd's new release. Even Billie, who is a streaming giant, didn't get a top three hit when she first released.
