SpadesToStart 2,450
Her performance was great, and there’s consensus on that. If you read the reviews, it’s Todd Phillips that’s getting raked over the coals (and rightfully so).

It's the writers' fault who should have created a real duo for the movie and something way madder ! No, it was the production and the editors who changed suff, it happens very often in both small and big movies. She is not the one to blame, not that we should care anyways. OP: stop overreacting to everything Edited October 4 by TimotheeChalamet
Mr Ricky 8,958
Im reading that Gaga's performance is solid. But the script and musical side to it was bad and too much. Crossfit
Arcanum 4,757
Sometimes you have to dive deep before you rise to the top. She should just be careful for her next role. My guess is that she will opt for a social themed movie, playing a role that has nothing to do with music or what she has done before (a la Mariah in precious, but in a more pivotal, refined and eclectic way). I Wantth your Love...I Wantth your Love.
lg5 1,460
Not even close imo. Gaga was in a dark place during ARTPOP and it showed. Plus us fans (the ones that stayed anyway) were on the battleground every day for a good 2 years trying to keep the ship afloat. The public view of Gaga was very negative during ARTPOP, similar to the hate trains JLO and Katy Perry have seen this year. Plus this isn’t a solo Gaga project, so we can ditch this project as soon as the contract is up! LG7 coming soon!
PartySick 144,360
I saw the movie last night. I kinda understand the reviews but personally? I loved the movie. But I also loved the first movie. And I loved them both because of the character of Arthur Fleck/Joker. His traumatic background, the psychology of his ticks and the abuse he suffered at the hands of really everyone around him, how even society seemed determined to beat him down so he became this ungovernable figure fueled by the dejection he felt and the psychopathy planted within him from such a young age. Spoilers: Spoiler I really loved the subversion of the usual "abusive Joker and his side piece, Harley Quinn, who's suffering from severe Stockholm syndrome after being swept off her feet by this savvy psychopath". Instead, Lee is a fantastic foil to Arthur's character. I did love the decision to make the overarching plot about the repercussions of the first film, namely his trial, and how most of the movie exists within his delusions. Some of it was jarring, which may or may not have been intentional, but I think it worked to kinda submerge us into his delusional state of mind. Joker was the one taken by Harley, and it was to his detriment. It's poetic how he's at the top of his power while she pulls the strings and presses his buttons but once he can't play this "character" anymore, his love ditches him, he loses much of his influence, and one of his dejected followers kills him. But...had he done that from the beginning, he would have won the trial and gotten off with the murder charges and been sent to a psychiatric hospital for real treatment. "We were never gonna run away together. All we had was the fantasy." UGH! Idk, I love the character, and I love Lee too...the cold hearted bitch I could go on for days Tl;dr - ARTPOP was a good album, FAD is a good movie Xoxo, CinemaReviewSick Stream Harlequin for clear skin and good hair 🦃🍂fat head rascal🍁🥧
A D A M 503
The movie undercut the role of Lee, there is no issue with Gaga's performace, which I think was really solid, both acting and singing. The script is the problem, the editing is problem (cut scenes), her presence really helped advertise really mediocre movie.

I posted this in another topic: I just watched the movie last night and as most people that have already seen it, I thought Lee was definitely not the character we expected and she didn't really contribute to the story as she should have... For the problem was not exactly the screen time, but here lines and their dialogues. That's very unfortunate because the movie and the character had a huge potential and we have only Todd to be blamed on this. I believe Gaga gave her best and it's sad that we haven't seen everything she's shot, here are a few that I remember that definitely were cut: - Lee singing That's Entertainment in the staircase while the Police is looking for Joker: - Lee (apparently pregnant) and coming down the stairs with Joker - Elevator scene in full makeup and looks of Harley Quinn - Courthouse stairs: kissing and then giving the finger to someone in the crowd: What else do you remember seeing that ended up being cut from the film? Monstermilo 3,557
personally i want Gaga to stop focusing on movies and release a few more pop albums before she turns 45. but if she were to continue acting, she needs to be more careful with her choices. ASIB was a great debut on the big screen and she got universal acclaim for that movie, but HOG and now FAD, have proven to be bad choices in terms of her acting career. also 2/3 of the movies shes been in have been musical-themed..... she needs to stop bringing that into her acting as its only coming off as a crutch shes using in these roles.
