Under the designer’s tenure, the LVMH-owned house became a megabrand with new categories, including menswear and beauty. “Under his creative and artistic direction, Celine has experienced exceptional growth and established itself as an iconic French couture house,” Celine said in a statement on Wednesday. “The extraordinary journey taken together over the last seven years has made Celine a house with a formidable foundation for the future.” No name of a successor has been announced. - Vogue Business today via Instagram With that news, I just realized that Gaga was the one who debuted Hedi's Celine with the "Le 16" bag right before the Venice premiere of ASIB in August 2018. This was before his first collection hit the Paris runway in September of that year. Maybe that's why she wore Celine to both the London and LA premiere (she usually wears different designers per premiere) because she wants to honor Hedi before his leave.
