VOLANTIS 16,287
They wanted it to be more Joaquin centric from what people are saying. Big bummer to have a star with as much of a cult following as Gaga to be a fluff piece for him honestly. Fumbled. But at least everyone praised what little of Gaga was in the final cut anyway so we will celebrate. A party. I'm on the phone with Bella Hadid rn. I'll lift you 3 inches off the ground and drag you to a meter and a half

I’m convinced it won’t do well, and I doubt there will be awards. This is gonna be quite the wound for us monsters who have been saying she was coming for GP success again. And LG7 will probably be quite niche in terms of mass appeal. At least DWAS has found an audience in the GP, even if I don’t care for the song 🫠 LG7 performance will depend on... LG7, the quality of the singles and promotion, not on JFAD, that won't be discussed for more than a couple weeks, and will be totally forgotten by Next February. Said that, LG7 singles better be good because she'n not having Oscars buzz around the release of the album.

I think it's about time this fanbase stops perceiving her success (or lack thereof) as something that will "affect us" in any capacity. Her achievements aren't "ours", and neither are her "failures". She's beyond rich, I think she can survive jumping on a project that was artistically stimulating for her, even if it doesn't do as well on the box office. She had #1 albums, #1 songs, Grammys, an Oscar, etc. If the Joker project isn't a hit with the audience, and the album she recorded for it never enters the top 10... it's fine . You're giving stan Twitter way too much power, other fanbases "dragging" us on social media is such a non issue, lol. Like, I could understand that mentality when we were all teens, but we're literally geriatric now, we are WAY too old, to care whether or not Taylor stans on Twitter laugh at her chart placements. Like, who cares? . It is such an exhausting way to experience an artist's work. Constantly focusing on how other people perceive it, whether it is accepted by the masses or not, etc. She's not an emerging artist anymore, she's got nothing to prove. If one of her project flops, whatever, is not like she's struggling to pay rent . She took a risk with Joker, critics do not seem to be on board with it, life goes on, is not that deep, lol. Siena 5,623
Honestly half of the reviews I see are people who say it’s amazing and others won’t get it, and the other half are the people who hate it and “ don’t get it”. I see it Thursday and will be making my own opinion after, but I typically find that these ar the type of films I love the most tbh. There’s clearly something about it that causes people to react in such a strong way, whether they loved it or hated it, and that alone is intriguing. I can’t wait to see it Edited October 2 by Siena 6
Wet Fire 6,637
Do you guys realize that rotten movies come in every actor's career. All the big actors, no matter how great or legendary have had movies in their careers that have been bad, disastrous, lukewarm, disappointing, critically panned, you say the word. You cannot expect every project to be creme de la creme or highly successful. It's a part of growing and continuing as an artist. Let Gaga have her CV built in acting. She's done only three films and and she should continue to take risks. I hope she takes up small independent roles next, without male leads. She's big enough to pull an audience if the movie is good. 17 2

Exactly, Cate Blanchett comes to mind with Borderlands recently which was a box office failure. Great actress in a badly written movie. This reflects way more on the FAD writers, and its not even like Gaga's acting is bad, she's getting praised for her performance. 11
