Charles X Charles 1,522
Just got home after watching the movie and I couldn’t agree with what all you said. Joker and Harley are really crazy!!! 🤡 FAD song is soooooooo nice in the movie too. Pivotal scene and I smell an Oscars Best Original song nomination and probably a win. 🥹 The score is superb too! A nomination in the bag for sure! 🙌🏼 To those monsters who are here and is having second thoughts on watching the movie because of the reviews you have read. Please drop everything and WATCH! It is ART! It is MUSIC! It is CINEMA! 1
Mister G 9,938
9 minutes ago, gerrygaga said: I think this needs a proper topic since some are having problems with her getting less screen time. Just watched it hours ago. Some critics/people lied about not having original song. Also, unfair they gave the film negative reviews just because of Gaga being underused. 1st, there is an original song and it was elegant & beautiful. 2nd, Lee was felt almost the entire film, of course Arthur has more scenes since it is his story, but Lee was ESSENTIAL. This is not a professional opinion but I would spend a whole day discussing to Warner it would be unfair if Gaga is campaigned "supporting" just because of lesser screen time than Joaquin or maybe she has more chances winning "supporting" than "lead." Before watching this film, I liked the idea of her being campaigned for supporting due to "more chances of winning" but i changed my mind, she deserves LEAD nomination for what she did. And I am sorry, i apologize to Lady Gaga for doubting her prowess just because of the early reviews. Overall, I think this is her best film, above A Star Is Born, Joker 2 is heaviest and most impactful. A LOT OF TRIGGER WARNING, although this was already obvious on the 1st film, but sequel is way way way more trigger warning. Please be careful & take care of yourselves before & after watching this movie. PERSONAL RANKING: Film as a whole 1. Joker 2 2. A Star Is Born 3. House Of Gucci Gaga's acting 1. Joker 2 2. House Of Gucci 3. A Star Is Born Congrats Gaga and Happy October Monsters. A great & special year indeed. Thank you for sharing!!

gerrygaga 2,169
I also wanna talk about something but I will try my best NOT TO SPOIL. But critics are pushing "WHAT THEY WANT" on the movie. Something happened in the film that THEY PERSONALLY DO NOT PREFER or they prefer something different. Which is, i think, that is just PLAIN SELFISH and unprofessional for them. I get that by the way, in life we want things to happen but we actually don't get everything we want. it's like that. i think movies are suppose to send message and not suppose to satisfy people's own "wants." maybe it is just me tho. 4 1 1

julz 5,373
I love your take on the film. I also watched it a few hours ago and gave my feedback in the other thread. Among the 3 films, i mostly enjoyed Gaga in this film also. For those who havent watched yet... i really suggest watching Joker 1, even a recap in Youtube.
Levine 22,027
Look, I didn't want to post this but I asked a person who I know and who watched the movie (he's straight and not a Gaga fan, just a casual) if Gaga lesser screentime is annoying and he didn't remember it, like he said "uhm I don't know, yeah she has less screentime than Joaquin but it didn't feel that way". He enjoyed the movie and he said he didn't understand the bad reviews (and yes, reviews influence people more than we - or at least I - think).
CyanDante 5,833
Also spoilers for the title Joker Folie A Deux - just from my perspective - Spoiler The Madness for two has nothing to do with Joker and Harley. So we were literally bamboozled. The 'two' is both within Arthur Fleck - the real Arthur and Joker. Hennycomb 2,915
My hyped died down a little bit not gonna lie, but this week after experiencing all the men that call the first movie "a masterpiece" crying and complaying that they "emasculated" Joker, my hype got back Also, people saying there is no plot made me wanna watch it more. The same people would probably complain that a David Lynch movie has no plot, so in the end, we all gotta go with our own baggage and experience it. Not to the fullest unfortunately, but that spoiler made it interesting for me Edited October 2 by Hennycomb

gerrygaga 2,169
2 minutes ago, Levine said: yeah she has less screentime than Joaquin but it didn't feel that way". yaaaaas i felt the same way, and i was surprised because of how other people reacted like Gaga less this Gaga less that. If the 50 minutes of Gaga screentime is accurate, then the director & editor or whoever was in charge actually did a VERY GOOD JOB.

Different people have different opinions i guess, they can think what they want. I enjoyed it. Edited October 2 by gerrygaga
Obobo 2,670
I still don’t think the movie was done well and that’s not a critique on Gaga. Screen time aside, she wasn’t given a chance to show the depth of Lee… I get the message Todd was trying to portray: Spoiler Harley represents the audience from the first film who want THE JOKER, The Clown Prince of Crime. It shows how we love sensationalism, headlines, etc and we don’t really care about the real person Arthur is. We’re willing to forget his upbringing, trauma and humanity we learnt from the first film and egg him on to become THE JOKER. Then Todd reminds us “That’s Life” and does a big middle finger to comic book audience. Arthur dies and we’re angry that all that previous story was “useless” he won’t be the big prince of crime — we’re angry we don’t get The Joker while Arthur is left dead and forgotten. It breaks that whole super villain mythos that comic book lovers love. The old system broke joker and the new system he helped create killed him. He’s still a loser. That was obviously the message but it wasn’t executed well at all. With the movie literally called “madness of two” we don’t even see that because Lee is already mad. FAD is just a joker 1 extended ending with a hint of a shallow romance and a few seconds of music. It just felt like a vomit of ideas. That being said i’m still supporting and I’m watching it two more times.
