I'm glad I wasn't particularly hyped for this movie it's getting dragged on social media. I'll still see it next week though. Hoping Gaga will swiftly move on to LG7. I'm glad she's found inspiration and an outlet from it, that's the important thing.

I'm amazed by the number of people who let their opinions be swayed by negative reviews. People who haven't even seen the movie are already acting like they hate it because of some reviews they read. I hope that I'm never that fragile that I have to let others form my opinions for me. At the end of the day, it's just a movie.....it's not going to make or break Gaga's career or anyone's life. There's so much drama.....go see it/don't go see it.....hate it/love it......who cares?? The best films are those that are open for debate, have mixed reviews, and allow for conversations. I'll save my "review" until I've actually seen the movie, but I promise I'll form my own opinions and not rely on others. Take a deep breath.....Gaga will be fine regardless of the outcome and she got paid. Let's try a little positivity.

Omg it is not panned. Most reviews I see online are mixed or positive, except of some Gaga haters or people that dont like the ending or it being a musical

Jeremy Jahns’s review was posted today and oof. Comments are taking shots at Todd for his decision to make it a musical with Gaga.

best case scenario is another house of gucci type scene. Gaga gets praised but the movie gets panned so all that praise ends up being nothing. Also commercially the movie is about to be a box office bomb. it has a budget of $200 million plus additional costs WB has spent on marketing and promo. It needs more than $600 mil to break even. I just hate how this whole thing is turning out to be. Gaga was about to have another peak in her career then this **** happens.

Plus 'people' (khiaty cats, selena fans, marvel fans, dc incels) are posting the ending of the movie everywhere. Its such an ending that once known causes people to lose interest.

I just hope Gaga sits this awards season out and focuses on lg7 but my delulu ass is still hoping for an oscar nom

I don't see what promo WB has done that would cost $400 million in additional required to break even?

NYC Monster

I saw it last night and I'm not gonna lie or sugarcoat it--it wasn't very good. This is also coming from someone who loved the original and Batman in general, though. Without spoiling too much...

-Gaga is in the film a decent amount of time, but her scenes are short and most of them are through hallucinations. A LOT of her scenes were cut, even stuff shown in the trailer. Definitely a supporting role for sure.

-The movie had a weak plot. It felt like it truly had no direction and that's why they threw all the music in, to distract the audience into thinking something was happening for 2 hours.

-Gaga was great. Great performance, great singing, did Harley Quinn justice but also wasn't the traditional HQ I was hoping for. I guess Joaquin's "Joker" is nothing like other films Jokers either since this takes place in a different universe, but, I was expecting more chaos from the both of them as the title suggests "Madness for Two". Their "love" felt rushed and anticlimactic. I wanted more from Harley Quinn or Lee Quinzel. I wanted to see them destroying Gotham together and taking over while the entire city goes mad.

-Ending was a -100/10 and ruined the entire thing.

-Definitely felt like Gaga was underused and overhyped to get people to see this film. I wanted so much more, I was expecting so much more and this truly wasn't Gaga's fault. I feel if her scenes had been longer, more drawn out, and just MORE in general she could've been in a good place for awards season but...alas.

-Multiple people in my row and rows around me left with about a good 15~ minutes left to spare. My partner fell asleep on my shoulder. Just thought I'd throw that in, lol.

Overall, I give it a 6/10. I would not go see it again in theaters, but I'll watch it when it comes to streaming.

Reality

Here to post some of my favorite reviewers talking about the film:

I've been following them for years and they mostly cover comic book films and the like. I tend to agree with them like 90% of the time and all three reactions are mixed/positive.

Nite

The German FAZ liked it.

"This movie is a triumph, but above all: a musical."

But the article is written REALLY weirdly :oprah:

https://www.faz.net/aktuell/feuilleton/kino/joker-folie-a-deux-wie-lady-Gaga-den-teufel-taub-singt-110021026.html

I have rarely read anything this weird about Gaga? Not in a negative way but - like, you'd think this is just a weird translation but it sounds just as weird in German:

"Joaquin Phoenix can't sing. But he can do this very well: “not sing”, and so beautifully that Lady Gaga has to summon up all her art to avoid wilting next to him. She can do it, that was clear. After all, this howling archangel has wings made of fiberglass feathers.

Anyone who has seen the lady as vampire countess Elizabeth in the fifth season of the series “American Horror Story” (caution: 18+) knows all about her uncanny depth of talent anyway: she moves and looks like she's sucking pink neon light instead of blood from the jugular vein of modernity; not since Elsa Lanchester in “Bride of Frankenstein” from 1935 has there been anything like it to marvel at.

In “Joker: Folie à Deux”, she can first clear all the cobwebs from classic Hollywood clunkers like ‘That's Entertainment’ within a few bars and then bite into shreds with her dangerous marten's teeth. You have to see it to hear it. Or vice versa."

This fanbase complained when DWAS was released and called it boring, so I'm not gonna judge the movie until I see it.
