I'm sure the numbers will increase greatly when she performs Happy Mistake on Kimmel.

I think both debut numbers and the critics score were kind of mid :bradley: I haven’t read the reviews yet but I expected the critics to go crazy with this record

Even though I love this record, and didnt really like C2C or L4S, I was really hoping that it would get more streams. Considering she is #4 in the world. If Taylor can get high numbers, why cant Gaga? And dont say, “oh it is jazz”. People that just see she released an album dont know that. So that is just a bad reason

Tbh the album received barely any promotion. I even know Little Monsters that had no idea she had a new album out.

If you're not that much on Twitter and missed her Harlequin post on Instagram, there is no way for you to know she's released a new album.

There aren't even any paid social media ads promoting the album or anything like that.

My guess is her team doesn't mind if the album doesn't do that well as it's just a companion album for the movie, and they're saving the promotional budget and hype for LG7.

I can understand how this is frustrating for us as we always want her projects to do amazing even if they're less mainstream and I agree based on her popularity we should expect higher numbers but without promo, that ain't happening...

Find it hilarious that the first day of streams is " the biggest streaming day ever". Yeah. It's the first day. It didn't have any streams before that day. :laughga:

It did have partial day streams from Thursday (~400k), thus why. :yennefer:

I agree with ur comment but ARTPOP definitely got the most hate at the time than any of her albums id say

Yeah ARTPOP definitely got a lot of hate! But I feel like as time went by, it became more and more likable for this fanbase. In my point of view, it became the misunderstood album the LM decided to cherish after a while. Maybe it was really ahead of its time. On the other hand, there are no hashtags like #justiceforjoanne. The hate never dissipated.

Thank you for introducing me to Laufey.  She's terrific, and wow, her ballads are so expressive.  Frank Sinatra was one of my dad's favorite singers.  One of mine, too.   I fell into playing French horn by accident.   Someone asked my dad to transfer a horn to another person he was meeting the next day, so it was sitting in our house overnight.  While my dad was downstairs in his studio giving lessons I discovered the horn by the front door.  I experimented with the fingerings and learned how to play some notes, and played some very simple songs.  When my dad come upstairs he asked my mom who was playing the horn.  She said it was me.  He said it must be a natural instrument for me, so I joined the band in elementary school.  Funny how things turn out.

Do you play an instrument?

Oh you’re welcome! Laufey is brilliant. Did you listen to Bewitched? It’s constantly on my replay. Sinatra is one of my favorite singers too, his voice is incomparable.

I see you have a natural talent and it was probably passed down to you from your dad!

I play the piano! I study classical piano. Currently studying Liszt and Haydn.

The first 2 tracks being especially jazz heavy is a colossal creative mistake, for example.

Why? If this had to do with people not listening the other songs because of the first 2, then it's not a creative mistake. Could be a marketing mistake, a business perspective mistake, but not a creative one. Gaga had her creative reasons to begin the album with these songs.

There were billboards in New York, Happy Mistake is on the top hits playlist on Spotify, the Vogue cover, she had a red carpet, a talk show, the Joker press conference and an Apple Music interview and she’s about to perform in a late show on tv for the first time in years, let’s not pretend it received “barely any promotion” :oprah:

i think the only mistake being made here is people looking at this album through a pop music lense and calling things bad choices when the record isn't intended/expected to behave and be consumed like a pop record

mother, what must i do?

I hope Gaga isn't too disappointed by these numbers. She clearly put a lot of heart into this project.

The Joker and Happy Mistake should’ve opened the album and the numbers would’ve been much higher lol.

When has she ever arranged an album for the charts? The track list feels very much intentional.
