Bebe 16,811
Gaga has been absolutely on point with her promotion for this movie and her campaigning and it is only just starting. I’m not even going to include her interview press run in this thread or her fashion moments. Beginning subtly with The Olympics giving us musical theatre showgirl To the nod to The Joker with her smash global hit with Bruno To her shifting to full Harley in her incredible Vogue cover and photoshoot To her Harley Quinn album To her collaboration with The Louvre The film hasn’t even been released in cinemas yet but she is using every opportunity and tool in her arsenal to scream “I am Harley Quinn”, “I am the modern musical female lead ala Judy, Liza, Barbara” and “This role, and my performance, is a cultural moment that demands your attention”. This is a massive campaign, not only for the movie, but for awards season early next year. I’m so excited for her big TV campaign once the movie is released discussing LG7, Joker and all of the above and I can’t wait for some live performances. I’m sure there will be some Harley inspired makeup from Haus Labs on the way to help further with some cross promotion alongside some other surprises. Gaga’s Harley is such a contrast to Robbie’s depiction which, although loved, I think will play very well to Oscar voters in the same way Heath Ledger/Joaquin Phoenix’s performances of Joker played well when compared to the goofy, camp Joker depictions that came before. Her performance is getting rave reviews and although critics are mixed on the movie itself, they were on the first as well. It’s the right mix of Gritty arthouse and Commercial to get some major attention. If the public respond well to her performance I think she will launch herself to the top of the Oscar predictions and a large part of that will be this massive campaign that leads with her creativity and talent and with her commitment to embodying such an interesting (and theatrical) role throughout the film and it’s rollout. Other actresses in major films could literally never. Only Gaga could star in a musical and then flex her industry muscle to launch a vogue cover, perform at the olympics, score a global smash hit with Bruno Mars and then casually release an entire album supporting the film while in character. Honestly major props to Gaga for her commitment and work so far. I hope this pays off for her, I’m liking her chances more than I did with ASIB. This time around Gaga really said “You are not going to ignore me like you did for HoG - watch this” 3 4

Cpeer 1,935
With every next role she plays she’s cementing her legacy. We sometimes don’t even realise how good her career is going on all fronts

Of course, a lot of female leads submit for supporting actress. She is still the female lead of the film.
